the way that both The Ghost of Heroes by Enigmaris and Vertical Limit by hppjmxrgosg set up these crossovers so that the implications of TUE - what with the attempted omnicide and all - are even worse, being that the same things happened despite the fact that there are entire universes of superheroes at play, so they both set it up so that danny's fear of himself is even worse than it would be if it weren't a crossover, but in GoH he starts subtly preparing those around him by making sure they have books on magic that's effective on ghosts, and giving them blood blossom samples (that happens right? it's been a bit) and making sure they know electricity is his weakness, and when the team figures out he's been prepping them to kill him if need be, they're like "oh you don't have to do that!! :( we trust you, your past is never thing to come back to haunt you, you're so much better than that" and it lets him build up trust in himself, BUT in VL he instead tries sort of to not let jl members (and other such non-amity-ppl) know just what the deal is with ghosts, or how powerful he is personally, and instead he goes home and says to Valerie one day (after talking abt how they're inexorably tied in with the jl by now) "you're the only person who could take me out, if something happens, i need you to stop me, no matter what it takes" and she spends a bit wishing she could say something comforting but eventually she just sadly says "no hesitation." and BOTH OF THESE THINGS MEAN THE WORLD TO ME

#my boy.............#anyway yeah. lovely opposite approaches to the same concept #and it makes sense in context too!#in goh (as much as i dislike the mcu) they have a whole team mechanic set up and they're also unified by a universal threat #in vl not only is danny trying to keep ghost stuff out of the larger public consciousness and not only are the jl entirely uninterested in #befriending him so far-- but there is no one big threat. matter of fact the team sees DANNY as potentially the universal threat #the tonal differences... chefs kiss.#not to analyze fanfiction for a nickelodeon cartoon on main but
