Yesterday I helped others with the design of the karaoke stage on the server. They liked it. uwu By the way, I took the old design from another player and changed it a little to my own.

Whew! This building took so long to build! Doesn’t look like much on the outside but it is the inside that counts! I’m stupidly happy how this turned out ^_^

I never considered myself a builder, but i am really proud of how these towers ended up looking!

I’ve been playing and watching a lot of Minecraft lately, and I felt the urge to show off what is probably the best thing I’ve ever built so far (in creative). Especially since it started as a random whim and sort of built itself as it went? By which I mean, there was very little actual planning involved, I just wanted to try something bigger:

I’ve been calling it the temple. The main structure is about 30 blocks tall, and the towers are I think roughly that again? I didn’t actually count, since those were a very late addition. It’s actually a really basic structure, since it was originally meant to be just the base section of something bigger, before I reined in my ambition a bit. It’s basically a box of 12 structural towers (the bits with the white) with curtain walling strung between them, and a flat roof on top.

And the roof … the roof is the bit I love most. Or, not the roof, but the ceiling. Here’s the roof from outside:

As I said, the towers with the bunting strung between them were a later addition, and I’m not 100% sure of them, though I think they work well enough. The bit I love is the dome. It kinda looks a bit awkward and maybe ugly from the top, but from the interior …

From the inside it is the best thing I’ve ever done in Minecraft. So, so much. It looks stunning from the floor. And it was a complete and utter accident. All of it. I had no plans for the ceiling. Even the shape of it was a complete accident. Because, see, what I was doing, I started out pulling the structural braces out from the towers. You can see them on the bottom image, the diagonals with the white, because the ceiling is huge and if it was just flat it would look like it should collapse right then and there. So I started building out these giant supports. And as I was up on them building, I noticed they were casting this gorgeous octagonal shadow on the floor. Just the supports, the way they met with no ceiling between them yet. And I wanted to keep that shape of shadow. So I decided to build the octagonal dome in the middle.

It was 100% trial and error, and from the top it still looks very awkward, but … from the bottom it’s so gorgeous. It’s the proudest thing I’ve ever made.

Then, once all of that was done, the main structure up, I decided I had better put in some interior. Um. Interior is not my strong point. But I had fun with the floor, at least. I figured we’d started with geometric shapes, we might as well carry on with them:

This is from the end of the build, so you can see the statues in this one. Those were pretty much the last things added, and they’re … of questionable quality. Though they don’t lend that bad of an effect to the interior …

All in all, the whole thing isn’t bad. I’m pleased with all of it.

But the dome. That … that is the bit I’m really, really proud of.

Maybe especially because it was a complete accident from someone who knows pretty much nothing about architecture at all. Heh.
