Lavender Marriage Story (with Crypto implied)

Poll winner for my crowd-sourced peer pressure to write poll below! There isn't a lot of context because I haven't written most of it yet but I fudged some world things so it doesn't need an intro. Enjoy! Or don't, I'm not your boss.

The centaur shopkeeper looked up at the couple that walked into his shop. The man was a tallish unseelie with a pockmarked face and deep-set eyes that looked shadowed in the furniture showroom lighting. His hair was tinged mossy green at the edges, and wherever his scalp showed through already thinning hair it looked kissed with flaking skin the color of bread that's been in the bag too long. The woman was a squatish seelie woman with the air of someone who'd just come from the gym, between a forehead slick with sweat and a general odor of sanitizer. Her pink hair was pulled up in two buns at the top of her head, which didn't entirely hide how greasy it looked.

Fortunately for business, greasy money is just as green. "Welcome welcome! What can we do to get you beautiful people into bed with us? ....They make us say that, apologies if it's too forward."

The woman leaned her elbows on the counter and beamed with her head in her hands. "Hello! We are here to outfit a master bedroom!"

The man leaned one elbow on the counter as well to chime in "And a guest room!" He winked at the salesman and grinned cheekily. "We're a fun about-to-be newlywed couple, planning our lives together."

"How ...fun! When's the date?"

The woman spread out her hands into matching peace signs. "Four days. We can't wait to make our love nest, but we want it to suit US, you know? That's why I'm letting him design the guest room. Keep the husband happy."

"Ohohoh, you treat me so well."

"I knowww!"

Afraid that the deliriously-happy squinting faces they were making at each other meant they might kiss, the salesman steps in. "Sounds great and totally feasible. Let me take you around to some of our pre-arranged roomscapes, since it sounds like time is of the essence. Follow me please."

He walked the couple through some of their elegant bedroom layouts, then their practical bedroom layouts, and stayed skirting the edges of their cheapest arrangements. The woman he couldn't get much of a read on - she raised her eye at some of the price tags but kept the smile and candor of their initial meeting. The man meanwhile was dancing between making cute faces at his beau and mugging at the centaur just trying to make an honest commission. Honestly even if he hadn't been on the clock it would've come off as weirdly desperate, and he was amazed the woman had kept her expression so even for the duration.

They finally got to the point of choosing specifics out of a neat stack of binders, and here at least the couple seemed less "fun" and more "normal."

"Hmm, I think if the dresser set is green birch it makes sense to get the bed as well. What do you think, my sweet?"

The woman looked to where her fiance was pointing. "Hmm. The weight limit for that in a full is only 400lbs. Maybe you should find something more accommodating. For your guests."

The man squinted again, but this time as though he'd been punched in the mouth by a lemon. "I think you mean OUR guests, dear."

"Right, OUR husky boy guests."

They decided on a bed with a reinforced breezeblock base, which matched the privacy screen for the XXL jacuzzi in the guest bath.

There's a writing group meetup in New Haven i'm going to this weekend! which is great! because I'll get to look at people in the eyes and face either right before or after they read my car sex scene!

Someone in my writing class once was doing a story about a serial killer in a post apocalyptic setting and had a scene where he meets a victim and gets him alone under the pretension of having gay sex. Then a woman in the class said as part of her feedback that it just seems unlikely that a gay man would go alone with another man he doesn't know to have sex in an alley lol 🙃

Anyway I'm a little worried about this being the crowd that has to read a scene where my villain/love interest gets off on giving cunnilingus to her situationship while test driving a showroom car.
