I want to show you something.
The TL:DR for those of you who want to skip my yapping session:
The two graphs I provided further down the post helped me visualise the bot harassment campaign a little better and I thought you'd like to see it too, just to put things into perspective a bit and truly highlight how fucking embarrassing, deranged, and criminal this whole thing is.
The graphs were taken from two low traffic posts of mine and the larger circles represent the bots. This circular pattern is usually filled with normal accounts in higher traffic posts, but in low traffic posts it's mostly comprised of Slinger's bots, which leads me to think that Slinger is targeting mostly low traffic, inoffensive posts now. Ladies, are you experiencing the same pattern or am I losing it?
I decided to do some digging, right. I don't keep up with the number of notes on my posts bc wtf would I do that on tumblr dot gov? I only check my notes to interact with you lovely ladies. But I was looking into the bot situation, trying to find a pattern or something across my posts, and sure enough a pattern emerged right before my eyes.
The first wave of bots last year targeted my higher traffic posts, which isn't saying much seeing how my blog is fairly low reach, but now the bots are targeting my inoffensive, low notes post.
A little disclaimer, the pattern on the graph you'll see in a bit is quite common because, again, our community is quite small and posts don't break containment that often, we're mostly rebloging from each other. That's not what I'm getting at, though my pet theory is that Slinger keeps an eye on a few of the bigger accounts and targets everyone those accounts interact with even if indirectly, but that's a different can of worms.
1. This one is from a post I tagged only with my personal tag. It was about Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, leg hair, and the impact Suzanne Collins' writing had on me as a kid. This one surprised me because I actually took the time to check the larger circle this time, dot by dot, and all of the red circles represent a reblog that is no longer available, which I'm assuming are from bot accounts that no longer exist. Again...a fairly inoffensive post, all things considered.
2. This one is about ballet and Trans Identified Males insistence on invading female spaces. It's a more snarky than the others and tagged for the rest of radblr. After going through the dots on the post about Katniss, I felt curious about this one and checked it out as well. Same thing, all red circles represent unavailable reblogs. It's hard to tell where one dot ends and the next begins.
3. This is one from my happy birthday to Malala post. It triggered Slinger for some reason, me wishing Malala of all people a happy birthday. it's a somewhat recent one, I don't even think I tagged it for the broader community. The dots forming the big circle are mostly Slinger's bots. I didn't check each dot because I didn't feel like giving myself carpal tunnel syndrome.
4. This last one I did add some tags to and it is about the bot harassment campaign, so it makes sense that Slinger would choose to target it. I didn't check each dot because, again, I didn't feel like giving myself carpal tunnel syndrome.
I've posted the following screenshots before, but as you can see they were mostly under the posts I just mentioned, over and over again. Right now, I'm mostly getting bot action under the Malala post for some reason.
These threats don't affect me at all. I imagine they can be triggering for some of us, though, and that is a disturbing thought. And then there's the fact that Slinger has been sending rape and death threats to minors, which is a. fucking disgusting, and b. an actual crime. I'm not in the US and there's only so much I can do. I'm posting this to share what I found with you guys and to hopefully keep it as a record of what we've been subjected to for daring to advocate for women's rights.
