Her entire body felt electric as Joe softly elbowed her laughing. She looked over to him, meeting his eyes.
His voice was low and smooth. And so close to her it made her shiver.
She nodded “yeah.” An easy smile spread across her lips. She was doing okay. She was sitting at a table with her cousin and some of their friends. And right next to her sat Joe, close enough that his knee brushed hers whenever he laughed. Her entire body was humming from his gaze on her. She felt her pulse quicken at the sound of his laugh, at the feel of his body next to hers.
She and Joe had been friends for a while now. But recently something had shifted between them. She wasn’t sure when it had happened but suddenly she found herself wanting his eyes on her.
She wanted his hands on her, his lips on hers.
She had never felt like this before. No one had ever seen her before in the same way Joe saw her. No one had ever really understood her in the same way as he did. He somehow made her feel so feminine. She felt so soft yet so sexy under his gaze.
Her mind drifted back to the way he had looked at her when he picked her up earlier that night. The way his eyes swept down her body. His gaze lingering on her body long enough that it made her blush. The way he had looked at her so knowingly.
She had bought this dress just for Joe, though she would never say it out loud. And with the way Joe was looking at her, she even wanted to take the dress off for him. Her heart raced as she thought about the way he had greeted her.
Baby, that was new. Her heart skipped a beat, he had never called her that before. She liked it.
“Baby?” She repeated, unsure she heard him correctly.
Joe just smirked, “What?”
“Since when do you call me that?”
Joe took a step closer to her “You don’t like it?”
“N-no I do. You just have never called me that before.” She could feel her cheeks heating.
The smirk on Joe’s face never wavered as he took another step closer and reached out for her hand.
“You look incredible baby” He said, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
Joe’s low voice pulled her from the memory, his hand grabbing hers under the table, careful not to let anyone else in on their little secret. A small, knowing smile gracing his gorgeous face. She just nodded at him, matching his smile.
He looked at her like he knew her, because he did. She never needed to pretend with Joe. She could just be.
