So Noel was near tears off and on all night. Liam appeared to be completely in the zone all night except for this one fleeting moment.

It was literally a split second, a micro expression, during a solo in the first half of the show. Have you ever seen how an infant's mouth will suddenly turn sharply down at the corners, into the deepest frown imaginable, in the second before it starts to cry? As though the mouth was literally turned upside down? It was that.

Rock star face- a split second of that tearful mouth - and then he was back in the zone.

It was at the second of it vanishing that I realized how incredibly strong Liam is.

I mean. Yes, he manifested this reunion with the love of his life and his one passion through fifteen years of shameless longing, obsession, humor, begging, working on himself, and sheer weirdness.

Yes, he sounds better at 52 than he has anytime since his mid twenties, despite health problems that directly affect his voice. Yes, he LOOKS incredible, including having lost about 30 pounds for this tour despite the health problems which directly impact his ability to reduce. This whole tour is his revenge dress. And the secret to making the revenge dress work is that it must look AWESOME.

Yes, he is anchoring a US stadium tour for the first time EVER, at 52, with the newly reunited love of his life.

Almost everyone was waiting for them to fail. The love of his life gave him this chance, even though he was almost certain that he would fail. Looking now at Noel's face on the first night, his expression is dread; he really thought it might go right off the rails.

Dozens of people put their livelihoods on the line for this. He put his relationship with the love of his life on the line for this. Millions upon millions of dollars are riding on this, and their legacy, and the hopes and love of hundreds of thousands of fans.

And he just goes out and DOES it every night. He freaking smashes it. Noel is an emotional mess, literally weeping onto his guitar strings, and Liam's focus on the moment is so absolutely solid, he never even wavers - except that one instant of emotion.

It's no wonder he can't go out and party every night. I think he must go home every night and sob just for the sheer intensity of it all.
