My gig reports from Eurodisko and Tavastia:
the first opener Pure was freestyle rap narrating the pictures of Jere's life that were shown in big screens. Pictures of young Jere were really cute but the only actual rap lyrics i remember were about a picture of Jere and Bojan " mä tunnen ton pojan, se on Bojan" (i know that boy, it's Bojan). It was so silly but funny at the same time, of course everyone knows who Bojan is. Kris and Jan were also in the picture btw.
Joker Out was of course a great opener. Was weird seeing their faces in huge screens, i'm so used to seeing them in club type settings.
Was nice to hear Odsevi Sonca live for the first time, chorus is really fun to sing along.
Nace was on the wrong side of stage, sad thing for me who was at Jan's side.
Bojan made a speech about how they first met Jere, how he was lonely in the ESC pre-party so they asked him to a lunch.
Jere's intro song thing was his part of Lord of the Lost's Raveyard, i liked that.
During the first actual song, Disco balls, he was lifted up on a huge Käärijä sign. They also had big disco balls thrown in the crowd but i think those were there for only that one song.
Many great guests with whom Jere sang their shared songs but most of them also got to sing one of their own songs. I think my favorite of those ones was Erika Vikman's Ich Komme, it works so well in an arena setting if people are singing along like they did here.
bbno$ being there was a surprise, i hadn't expected him to show up too.
During Sex =Money fake money was sent flying over the crowd. I catched some from the air but also took several from the floor because there were a lot of them everywhere.
During Mic Mac they showed Robin, Viivi and Joker Out doing the dance.
I had hoped to hear Joost, Tommy and Jere sing I Miss Us and was so happy that they did that.
I could spot Joker Out watching the show on the side of the crowd when Jere mentioned them being there.
Jere's parents came to the stage in the end of the show, that was sweet.
When the end credits were rolling they were playing Hyvää Puuta and of course Jere also needed to start singing it. I loved it.
i had never been in Tavastia before so i was looking forward to finally see Joker Out there.
At some point Jan walked in there through the main entrance and it was so funny when no one seemed to even notice him at all, he just walked right in with Kiki without anyone saying a word. When he left people did notice him and went to talk to him.
Jure also appeared at some point and people did notice him. He came out later to chat with fans a bit and left.
No drama with getting in, at least i didn't hear there were any. People were behaving calmly.
The stage was smaller than i thought, it looks much bigger in the pictures.
Opener was once again Pilvet pilvet. They are ok, i have seen much worse ones. Someone in the crowd was very rude to them at one point, that was so awful and unnecessary.
Before the main show i commented that hopefully they have given Nace some non-broken clothes, but of course he showed up in that shirt that has the other sleeve still almost ripped off. The only good thing about that is you can see his tattoos through it.
Nace was back in his right spot.
Bojan was wearing a moomin shirt.
Jan seemed really happy, smiley and energetic, well they all did but Jan can be so in his own head sometimes he doesn't even seem to notice where he is.
Bojan was a bit sick, he had a runny nose and needed to ask Kiki to bring him napkins a couple of times.
Bojan made a speech about how Eurodisko was the first consert where he was listening to live music he couldn't understand for two hours and realised that is how their conserts must feel like to us. And how it's incredible we still know the lyrics without speaking the language.
Bojan had THE WORST way of announcing the next day is Jure's 30th birthday. He was like "today is the last consert Jure is playing with us" then a dramatic pause during which i already had time to start panicing inside before he declared "being under 30 because tomorrow is his birthday!" What a way to almost give me a heart attack Bojan, that was awful.
The crowd then started singing happy birthday to him, first in english and then in finnish. I wasn't even sure if that was an okay thing to do if they also have the belief in Slovenia that wishing someone happy birthday in advance is bad luck. But we don't have that belief in Finland so the majority of the crowd didn't probably know about that.
Kris was wearing elf ears at one point.
UM karaoke worked well for once!! Bojan told he takes only three singers today and then he made the whole crowd sing like in Veikkaus arena.
Jan grabbed Nace's ass during Novi Val. Good stuff.
Great first Tavastia experience, would go again.
