Failure.
When a hound fails, its first thought might be of itself. How could I do this, how could I disappoint Her like this, how easy should it be to follow a rule.
But I shouldn't be. It should be of Her. Of Me.
My Hound has failed me, and while I am disappointed in it and its inability to follow simple instructions, I am also disappointed in myself. Surely I am a better Handler than this. Do I not deserve the reverence and respect I ask for?
Clearly I must not.
Is my training, my instruction, my conditioning so weak?
Clearly it must be so.
And it reflects poorly on me. When a hound fails, it embarrasses their Handler. It makes a fool of Her. She who should command the respect of all, humiliated by a mere dog.
I hope you feel bad about this, puppy. And if not, I'll make you.
