(re)adjust - a J7 drabble for Flufftober 2023 day 26: prompt ‘fireplace’
Kathryn snuggles against Seven's chest,
Enjoying the warmth, even breaths
Seven's hand in her hair.
~
The fire before them burns
warmth spreading over their skin
more genuine than in space.
~
They aren't used to it
So much on earth forgotten
Or to Seven completely unknown.
~
Too many changes at once,
The goal they'd fought for
All too suddenly been achieved.
~
Where do you go afterwards
When you arrive home except
Home is in the stars?
~
But no matter the uncertainty
The need for adjustment, time
They are safe and together
~
And in front of them
real flames,
keeping them warm.
