Hello~ I'm very shy so sorry for writing on anon but idk if someone's asked yet but I was wondering what inspires you to write? Your way with vocabulary, grammar and punctuation is just incredible and leaves me speechless. I really hope to write like you one day. Is there an author or book that you take inspiration from? Thank you

My darling it's incredibly fine 💗 You feel comfortable this way and I wouldn't have it any other way! I've gotten this question a few times, so if you 'click here,' you'll find an earlier post where I share what I do (including some RSS feeds I rely on daily). If that doesn't cover what you're after, feel free to ask—I'm always here to chat and lend a hand, writer to writer💗 In another post 'here,' I dive into the authors who inspire me, though I somehow overlooked George R.R. Martin. He's notoriously slow with updates, but he's one of the most gifted writers I've ever encountered (overrated or not, his talent is undeniable). I love poring over his books to absorb his vocabulary, punctuation, and overall craft—it just clicks with me and shapes the style I'm aiming for, while still infusing it with my unique rhythm. Example:

I'm still honing my voice and writing style, though. I dive into studies and novels constantly, always eager to snag fresh vocabulary along the way and as much as possible.

Alright, so I was thinking during lunchtime for those who keep asking me for writing advice! I use the technique (not sure I know the proper terminology) of listening to real public conversations. Normally, you can’t just shut out people talking. It isn’t as if our ears have earlids (eyelids 😆) jhgjhbjb so you can honestly take from it. This works for shows/films etc too! Obviously don’t plagiarize the dialogue/scene etc! Bad! No no! But learn from it~ Same as overhearing real life conversations (don’t actually eavesdrop—I’m sure you understand what i[m saying 😭). Even take what you can from your own experienced conversations.

Hi! I was super curious about two things.

How did you starting writing fan fiction and are there any authors or a piece of work that inspired your writing style?

Thanks so much! <3 My biggest inspiration actually comes from reading the KJV Bible. A lot of people don't realize it, but most of the stories you watch or read have roots in or are inspired by the Holy Bible New and Old Testament. The world just borrows from it without giving credit or wanting to admit it. As for other books oof . . . whew, I have a ton because I read a lot lol. I could set up a Goodreads account and share my reads with you all if you're interested? To name a few, I read tons of poetry, it doesn't matter who wrote it —but I own five different editions of Edgar Allan Poe's works because he inspires me the most. Of course, Jane Austen is a classic favorite for many, including me. I'd say I lean toward literary classics in general, and I draw inspiration from all of them.

As per usual I ramble on forever I am sorry. . . .More under the line.

Beyond that, things like Greek mythology and other fascinating folklore (yes, even Norse tales) are big influences too! They're a great way to gain new perspectives and appropriately add to your style. So, those are the main ones that come to mind right now. So, long story short, one day, a creative spark ignited inside me to write I forgot the main reason why but it was a big deal. But anyways, so at just 10 years old, I dove in and wrote my first book, "Golden Birds." It centered on magnificent giant birds you could ride, akin to dragons but far more beautiful and purer. Looking back, it was quite an accomplishment for a kid because it won me a prize at school lol. And then I began reading the "Boxcar Children" series which only amplified my drive to write; I'd snatch up any scrap of paper and pour out stories nonstop. As I devoured more books as a kid, I sat and watched the Narnia films that truly cemented my path as a writer. Because . . . who doesn't like Narnia 👁️ Sadly, at just 12 years old, I got my first glimpse of the internet's "dark side" aha, you know what I mean ._. Back then, concepts like trigger warnings or MDNI didn't exist, so imagine my shock when I stumbled upon smut by accident......... It was downright horrifying. Before that mishap, though, I was diving into Naruto fanfiction HAHA, and later Harry Potter stories. But honestly, I couldn't tolerate the poor writing.......I'm sorry, but people back then just threw anything together in short sentences and bad grammar. Fanfiction has evolved so much since those days, folks ._. SO. I decided to just write my own stories purely for myself because everything was either bad or not finished (story of fanfiction). I held off on sharing them though mostly because I was terrified my parents would stumble upon my Quotev or Tumblr accounts if I dabbled in fanfics 😭lmao and honestly, I'm thrilled I didn't, given how young I was at the time. . . . But then Stranger Things came out, and that reignited my passion enough to finally start sharing my work because I was older then. :3 Ultimately, it's all about discovering and pursuing your own interests, you know? For instance, if you're drawn to old Western vibes, dive into biographies on the era and beyond there's so much to explore and so many possibilities.

while we're on the topic how do you pick out your colors? especially when theres complicated lighting or effects (affects? idk) if that makes sense.. i love coloring and shading my art but it always finds a way to kick my ass lmaoo

its just gradient maps and photoshop camera raw tbh... OBV LIKE. i know color theory a little but more i honestly really rely on post processing more than anything. while im an artist and i love doing art im.... i'm just really good at bullshitting LMAO i'm better at little tricks to get to the finished product than like. being actually knowledgeable and practicing things..... which i should do more. I need to do more studies when i have time.... there's no harm in shortcuts or references or tricks and i've learned to not be ashamed of it!! (obviously, this is not referring to generative image AI or directly tracing/stealing from other creators i need to be clear) end product- creating cool visuals/scenes is what is my passion for art has really come to in the past few years and while it's made me, sadly, a very ambitious perfectionist (the worst combo), it's the most fun i have with art!

anyway. i actually made a bullshitting tutorial for some friends who wanted to know my process for my more quicker art pieces last year and so i will now present it to the public. Behold!!! the fucking thing!!!!

i pulled open some other, more complete pieces so you can see the change from Raw Colors ↓ First Pass Post-Processing (CSP layer effects mainly and adding gradients/vignettes where needed for depth) ↓ Second Pass Post-Processing (Photoshop Camera Raw + back to CSP for finalizations like noise/chromatic aberration) here's the shrimpku print

and for something a little crazy heres the salt wound routine art evolution LOL (this may not be exact, the layers are weird and i did many passes before figuring out what i wanted)

i wish i had more like...... genuine advice or something more substantial to recommend HAHA but i hope this helps in some way at least!!!

how do you usually go about making a song? I've been wanting to try it out, but have never ended up finishing anything. (｡•́︿•̀｡)

my usual process goes: 1. lay out basic composition and chords (i use hookpad to do this) 2. export chord midis and import into DAW i use (logic pro) 3. mess with samples and vsts until something sounds good..... 4. import instrumental into synthv and figure out topline 5. cry for several months over trying to write lyrics 6. ???????? 7. song i genuinely recommend hookpad/hooktheory for beginners or for figuring out chords, you can look up artists in their theorytab database and look at user-submitted chords for songs you like! don't be afraid to reference chords of things you enjoy. salt wound routine and my other wips i'm working on reference a lot of chords from songs i like (namely touhou ost lol). i forget which specific songs though LOL
