Something i would love to discuss is louis's sheer unadulterated ruthlessness when it comes to taking down those who hurt his family. What's interesting to me is how lestat is a survivor by any means possible and he extends that desperation to save louis during the trial. Claudia, too, is a survivor and equally fierce and ruthless in that, manipulating whomever she has to (including louis) to get what she wants. Even the trial she doesnt take sitting down at any point (literally) - another similarity she bears to lestat
Louis, on the other hand, is not ruthless when it comes to himself. In fact, given his suicidal tendencies and his deep depression and loss of self, his self is kind of last on his own list of priorities as it were. But for lestat and claudia he would burn down the world (again, quite literally) and i just find that so fascinating because this man DOES NOT play about his family. It is only when daniel makes off colour remarks about claudia and lestat that louis turns on him and is at his cruelest. He refuses to completely ensure lestat is dead, even when given every opportunity and then, after the trial - oh. He doesnt hesitate an INCH when it comes to providing all of theatre des vampires with a swift and painful death. Especially with santiago, this is so noticeable. He doesnt play with his food except to draw them to exactly where he wants them. He doesnt give them any reason to hope they'll make it out of the shadow of his rage, he just attacks and takes them out. With santiago, he taunts him, yes, pulls out his worst fears and memories (im seeing a pattern louis!) But again, not to play with him or torture him particularly but to get him exactly where he wants before he cuts him down. He doesnt waste a second.
And its so fascinating to compare to lestat and claudia's murder plans because theirs are more drawn out. They enjoy the hunt as much as the kill itself, they want their prey to be broken down and to know who it was that brought them there (lestat and that tenor, claudia and lestat) meanwhile, louis could not give one singular fuck. He wants you dead, thats it. Thats all that matters.
I showed you my chad please respond.
Ok im rewatching the s2 finale and like firstly, jacob andersons acting in this episode was OFF the charts. The fact that he didnt win any awards for this is CRIMINAL
Secondly, absolutely insane how he got with armand in that moment in magnus's lair not for armand himself but to spite lestat. He literally JUST told armand that he wouldnt forgive him for his part in claudia's death and the way he acts towards him is soo telling in that scene. Because he and armand enter magnus' lair and theres an ocean of distance between them. He doesn't gesture to armand to do anything, doesnt even seem particularly concerned that he's there except at the end. Yeah, armand acts threateningly towards lestat too but they very clearly are not there as a team, their postures and body language all but shout it for the world to hear. And then, after louis kisses armand he walks out BY HIMSELF. If he truly cared even an ounce for armand as much as he does lestat he would have dragged him out of there himself. Instead he lets armand make his own way out. And its crazy to me how deeply hes in repression about this where in present day he acts like its romantic when its like. Louis, it was not even romantic in your memory???
