I was wondering, are the mycologists related? And do they genuinely like each other or do they just put up with each other for some reason?

the mycologists are not related! the taller one is just the shorter one's intern/apprentice/trainee/whatever you find the funniest

that second question is significantly more nebulous though lmao; the taller myco's attachment to the shorter one borders on sycophantic and the shorter one is regularly irritated by the other's lack of initiative or confidence, but that's not to say they don't genuinely enjoy each other's company at times.

to be completely honest i don't think they have a choice over whether to put up with each other or not lol, they aren't likely to find anyone else who gels so well in exactly the right flavor of weird

also i like to think at Least one of them cultivates mushroom logs at home for fun :3c just bc i really think mushroom logs are really sick, and they DEFINITELY have favorite mushrooms (source: i have a friend whos into mycology and she has one particular fav which is Amanita Virosa/Ocreata/Verna/Bisporogera (all regional variants) which is the fungus more commonly known as the Destroying Angel. She calls them her favorite pretty ladies :) )

they definitely both cultivate mushroom logs, to the point that their apartment's air quality is like 75% spores by volume lmao

i think they try to be on the down-low about it (because like, it isn't super relevant to their job all things considered) but by this point everyone at the home is at least kind of aware of their weird shared mycology hobby, it doesn't take much prompting to get them talking about it

your retyrement mycologist fact of the day is... the taller myco doesn't have a driver's license, the smaller one drives them everywhere in his mushroom-themed vehicle that he also does rideshare service with on the side lmao

god it's been over a year since i've drawn the mycologists lmao, retyrement or otherwise; i do love the designs i did for them, they're fun :)

that said i don't have too many plans for them in OFH at present, so if you're in the market for taller mycologist thirstposting you'll just have to keep sliding into my askbox lmao
