You’re such a talented writer, and you write Lumax so well. I love reading your fic (I was so happy to see you had released a new one today!) and I really hope you keep writing :)
ahh thank you so so much!! this makes me so happy and I’m so glad you enjoy my writing! I’m definitely going to keep writing - in fact I already have another lumax fic planned out so keep an eye out for it! <3
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the newst season of black mirror (if you haven't posted them already) especially the episodes: uss callister, crocodile, and black museum :) also hope this ask finds u well <3
Thanks! I watched all of the Black Mirror eps except for Arkangel, which I lost interest in about a third of the way through because it seemed too predictable. I enjoyed all the eps you’re talking about and Metalhead too.
USS Callister felt like the most interesting, original and topical. Horror was ripe for an incel/toxic nerd takedown. Crocodile was more slow building dread and Black Museum was more classic Twilight Zone/Creepshow/Tales from the Hood revenge horror.
Crocodile and Black Museum both build their horror out of the suffering of Black and Brown bodies and that sort of cuts both ways. On one hand, it reflects a lot of the horror and suffering of the real world and fights against the denial and erasure of that suffering by using a fictional magnifying glass to let people see it more clearly. On the other hand, because it’s set in the future, that means it’s pessimistic about the possibilities of getting rid of racism, which means, by extension, pessimism about the agency of people of color. I don’t like futures that reduplicate racism exactly as it is today (I think it’s just as unimaginative as futures that handwave it away at some undetermined point) but at least in Black Museum you have Nish and her mom restoring their agency with the elaborate revenge. So it passively duplicates racism on the SF level but is explicitly anti-racist on the horror level, if that makes sense.
This gotta be you slander rn
now sis gotta be you is an abomination and u know it lmao
edit: AS IF U PUT STOLE MY HEART IN YOURS 💀 A B O P
So I went to see the mountain between us today bc of your glowing review and I LOVED IT! It's exactly like a fic, like you said. I went with my mom and told her "basically this is what fanfiction is like" and she kinda got it lol
It was so satisfying! And could Ben (Idris Elba) possibly be any more noble? Just when you thought he couldn’t get any more fucking perfect, the movie would surprise you. That’s where all the suspense came from.
mydinnerwithericandre replied to your post “There’s so many movies I wish Guillermo del Toro could have made. Like...”
What? Omg how are the nuwaubians involved ? Also yessss I LOVE GDT!
Well, Wesley Snipes was deeply involved with the Nuwaubians and a lot of people think that falling in with the Nuwaubians was the reason he stopped paying his taxes. Around 2000 he was on top of the world, a superstar actor and martial artist whose genuine talent was recognized by an adoring public. Then he lost his damn mind. His PR people always denied he was a Nuwaubian, but he also sunk a lot of money into a plan to create a security guard training center on the Nuwaubian compound in Georgia.
GDT’s Blade II filmed in 2001 and everyone seemed to get along behind the scenes. There are nice pics of Donnie Yen eating lunch with Wesley Snipes, for example! It came out in 2002 and was a commercial success.
Malachai York, the Nuwaubian cult leader, was arrested in 2002 for assorted financial crimes and child sexual abuse (finding a cult leader who isn’t a pedophile is pretty much impossible, the two things really go together)
Blade Trinity filmed in 2003 and by that time, Wesley Snipes had lost his mind and at one point tried to strangle his director, David Goyer. I don’t want to put all the blame on Snipes, because there was also some racism involved that he was not the sort of person to let go quietly and to be honest I’ve also felt like strangling David Goyer at certain points, but the end result was that Snipes lost control of his money and his Hollywood reputation at the same time and everything pretty much fell apart for him after Blade: Trinity, which came out in 2004, the same year as York went to prison for 130 years.

Not a good selfie but it shows off the metallic...
Is colourpop worth it? They’re having a sale rn and I’ve been wanting to try them out but idk..
At this point half my makeup is Colourpop because they’re so freaking cheap—they’re cheaper than drugstore brands but much much better quality. They don’t spend money on fancy packaging, everything is white plastic with cheap printing that wears off, while the actual contents are GREAT. It’s the perfect tradeoff.
My favorites by them are the highlighters and the eye shadows. The cream to powder works well with fingers and lasts a really long time. I’m less excited about their lipsticks because I don’t like liquid lipsticks and very dry matte pencil type lipsticks, which is the only kind they have—they dry out my lips too much. I also like their gel eyeliner. I don’t use mascara or hardly any eyebrow stuff so I can’t comment on those.
If you’re doing a trial order with them I’d suggest maybe a couple eyeshadows, a highlighter and a mini lipstick set just to test out the colors and formulation and decide whether you like it or not.
I’m super into bronze metallic stuff so here are my favorites by them in that category:

What are you biggest disappointments re: the Oscar nominations ?
Definitely everything involving Jo Jo Rabbit. That movie really disappointed me but then I got so distracted by Joker that it didn’t even occur to me to worry about it getting a lot of nominations. So my overall disappointments are:
Scarlett Johansson getting nominated for Supporting Actress (should have been Jennifer Lopez)
Margot Robbie should have been nominated for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Todd Phillips getting director nom was something I had originally sadly expected, then it was floated that it would be Taika Waititi, and then it ended up going to Todd Phillips. When all along it should have been Greta Gerwig or Lulu Wang
Song Kang-ho was robbed from Best Actor for Parasite
Midsommar should have been nominated for everything SOMETHING
Also honestly in general The Farewell was robbed
There was never a chance for him but Adam Sandler for Best Actor would have been amazing
Willem Dafoe would have been great for supporting actor for The Lighthouse
Lupita Nyong'o deserved being nominated for best actress
Okay I think for now those are all of my main frustrations! I watched them get revealed on a plane this morning so I’m still processing everything haha. And honestly there’s a lot I’m happy with!! It was such an amazing year for movies and a lot of the nominations were ones I was expecting (regardless of how I feel), but yeah a lot of those really do get to me. There’s still a good chance that movies I love will do well but some of those rally make me nervous! (I haven’t seen 1917 so not sure what I think yet). I also usually always love the critics awards! So I just need to focus on those and not the Oscars haha.
