3 for Ild and Myl
3. Kissing so desperately that their whole body curves into the other person’s (Also I really tried to keep it short and quick but couldn’t help myself with a near-fledged scene?? Also warning for - pretty likely at this point - spoilers for Starsurge?? Also I’m sleep deprived but quite sure this doesn’t really fill the prompt?? And what’s with the many questions? And why the heck I’m feeling like having a deja-vu right now?!?!?Okay, I’m stopping now.)
Surfas: Endearment for “Dear” or just “Love”.Dalah’surfal: Endearment, “My beloved.”
Stars Align - Mylenne and Illidan
“What’s all this mystery? Where are you taking me, surfas?”
Her hands grip the back of Illidan’s neck a little tighter as he takes her in his arms, only able to hear the creaking of the wooden stairs of his house as he climbs down, patient and relaxed as ever—unlike the woman he carries, however, as sheer curiosity starts getting the better of her. Mylenne’s legs still feel numb and unresponsive, leaving her unable to walk and now then to see, given his oh so funny idea of blindfolding her eyes before bringing her away from their bedroom.
“Are we going to the cave?” Still, she gets no response from him except an endearing chuckle, cradling her close to his chest—exposed and bare, only wearing a silver crescent moon necklace she once gifted him.
“Patience isn’t still one of your virtues, it seems,” She doesn’t need her eyes to figure out the amused smirk his mouth must be showing, his tone speaking all along as he opens the door with a bump of his hip. “It won’t take long, I promise,” Illidan insists, heading outside his house and onto the summer night of Meredil’s streets.
Mylenne feels the vibrations of his voice as she rests her face in the crook of his neck, Illidan’s natural scent—a strong trace of oak wood, mixed up with fresh starlight roses from their small garden, and a sweet yet slightly acrid smell of arcane magic all around—filling her senses and soothing her sudden nerves. While she’s not particularly fond of surprises just as much as him, she can’t bring herself to ruin in any way what it seems to be something carefully and meticulously planned for some time, if her suspicions are correct.
As they stop in what it feels like the middle of nowhere, she loosens her hold in an attempt to let go and get her feet on solid ground. However, Illidan appears to have none of that, “No, we’re not there yet, Mylie. I need you to hold me tight now, okay?” He prompts, shifting his grip on her easily and near effortlessly—aware of her aches and numbness just as much as herself.
Locking her ankles in the back of his legs, Illidan stays still for a moment, humming as if remembering something. “Do you trust me?” Mylenne nods without thinking twice, nose and then paler lips brushing against his neck. “Okay. We’re climbing, then,”
“Wa-wait, what!?” He doesn’t give her a moment to think properly before hearing more noises of wood creaking, a part of her wanting to take that for a joke yet instantly gripping his back and neck like a vice, a sense of deep vertigo assaulting her senses and settling in her gut, cold as ice.
Thankfully, he doesn’t laugh at her reaction—never took her fear of heights as something funny or worth mocking at, just like she never did with his moderate claustrophobia—whispering soothing words of comfort in their way up. Before she notices, they reach the top in no time, taking precious care of her condition as he then settles her over what it feels like big cushions.
“You can lay back, there’s a lot of space,” Illidan bats her hand away as she first attempts to take away the fabric over her eyes, earning a huff from her, yet obliging regardless. As she drops onto more cushions and pillows, a satisfied hum from him follows before sitting beside her.
The soothing whispers carried by the summer breeze aren’t helpful with toning down her anxiety, although Illidan also seems to have reached the end of his patience as he finally removes her blindfold, delicately moving some strands of her violet hair away from her face in the process.
All Mylenne can do next is holding back a gasp; the bright golden of Illidan’s eyes being the first thing she can see, and behind him… an utterly breathtaking expanse of stars.
She can’t remember the last time she had such a clear view devoid of any tree or building; the memories of her young years back at Suramar’s Observatory, pulling quick notes and stargazing with her then professor, Etraeus, feeling like memories of another life. And then, as bright constellations and star patterns unfold before her just as effortlessly, an endearing smile clings to her lips, silver eyes brimming with tears.
“I… I’m lost for words,” She breathes, unable to take her eyes away from the sky. Up north, she finds The Path, always pointing at the Moon below. On the western side is The Shield, clearer as ever before, sheltering the bright group of stars that form The Mother’s Gaze. From where they are, she can even glance at The Hunter—or The Protector, as some astronomers name it—close to be cradling the second Moon, the Blue Child, although not just yet due to the time of year.
Not as surprisingly, her companion appears to be more entertained with just looking at her, cheek resting in his palm, leaning on his side but careful to not disturb her view. “It seemed like the perfect night to show you what I’ve been working on,” Illidan smiles, looking nearly overjoyed, almost unable to keep himself from grinning that much. “I noticed the sky looks far better from here, so I couldn’t help with trying to use this part of the roof to recreate a terrace of some sorts for you,”
His comment prompts her attention, “F-for me?” She stares at him, violet brows furrowed, “So, that thing you said about ‘an annoying gap on the roof’ was actually you working on this?” A confused blink follows, half aware of her ridiculous gaping, “And… for me?”
“Of course this is for you, Mylie,” He says as if it’s obvious, appearing delighted within each second passing—judging by the gleaming of his golden eyes, “Stars and constellations are a mystery to me, but I was hoping you could teach me to read them as you do,” He shrugs nonchalantly as his gaze drops, a hidden meaning in his words, a small tone of hopefulness giving him away.
The words say you can teach me, but they hear like don’t leave me.
Still, Mylenne can’t believe she’s deserving of such an immense gesture, “But… you made this, you changed your place just for me?” Making no small effort to sit straight, she then cradles his cheek, prompting him to look at her, “Illidan, this is your house, your home, that’s just—“
A long index finger graces her lips, silencing her, “No place is home if you’re not there… dalah’surfal,”
Mylenne can’t be sure how much time goes by with just looking at him, wide-eyed and slack-mouthed, her heart melting at the endearment and heard for the first time in her life directed at her. It takes no effort from him to take advantage of her sudden shock, leaning down and capturing her lower lip with his, nipping and pulling at it, slow and tentative. Hopeful and cautious—always struggling with his known desire of taking her the way he wants, but waiting ever so patiently for her to take the first step.
No words or endearments are necessary to be so overwhelmingly aware of how much Illidan loves her. She can see it more clearly than the stars above; in everything he does, in every night and day he spends at her side.
It takes less than a second to pull him down with her, pulling at the back of his neck and kissing him breathless, almost desperately. He instantly obliges, previous carefulness brushed aside as they both claim each other’s mouths, hands not enough to bring the other closer. Bending, pushing, wrapping, doing their best attempt of melting their bodies together—breaths, auras and heartbeats already encompassing as one.
An eternity later, none of them seem to have enough of the other, but it’s Illidan who first pulls away, only a mere inch and far enough to speak. “Would you be mine?” He pants, breathing fanning her lips before pulling back a little further, hands on each side of her head.
He’s clearly not done with surprising her—yet still, with the breathtaking sight of the stars above and washing over him, the picture itself doesn’t particularly feel like a revelation.
“I’ve been yours since the very first moment we met, Illidan…”
The Path points at him. But Mylenne knew it all along.
Starsurge 15 - Snippet
Catch up on: Ao3 | FFN
It’s as she closes the door a little bit too hard when she notices a tall, muscled figure flinching at the noise she makes, sending her jumping with their sudden appearance and the sound altogether. “Oh, sweet Mother Moon—!“ Mylenne curses, her free hand going to her chest.
That room isn’t as lit up as the hallway, the moonlight coming through a big window across being the main source of light, but she doesn’t need as much to notice the tall figure clearly not being who she’s looking for. Wait… did Lothrius said ‘them’?
“Well, here I just thought I might not hear from you until next month…” A deep baritone voice reaches her already flushed ears, her eyes blowing wide in realization as the figure reveals their identity, stepping closer to her and into the moonlight rushing through besides them. “Are you alright, though?”
“You—you can’t creep on people like that, Illidan!” She sputters, still clutching her chest and doing her best to regain some composure, “That’s… well, that’s creepy!”
With half of his body still shadowed, he raises his arms apologetically, “Alright, I’m sorry. But in my defense, it’s not like we were expecting anyone,” Illidan admits, slightly shrugging and moving to the side, a hand glowing with bright purplish magic as he works in turning on the candlelight dangling from the ceiling.
With some better illumination, Mylenne then finds out she still has to fight her constant racing heart, unable to keep her silver gaze from roaming over the revealing sight of the man before her. Blood rushes to her face without her having a chance to fight it, glancing at Illidan’s wet hair sticking to his broad shoulders and broader back, dark skin slightly glistening thanks to some remnants of water dripping from his mane and the moonlight shining on the expanse of his body.
She can’t contain herself when she opens her mouth to say something—anything—but no words come out, leaving her with her jaw dropped and gaping ridiculously. But how could she, anyway, when that breathtakingly handsome man now facing her is nearly bare except for a white towel around his waist?
A sly smirk shows on Illidan’s face when he meets her eyes, adopting a cocky posture as he leans his weight in one hip and crosses his arms languidly. “Like what you see?” He says in a sultry tone, golden eyes gleaming with deep amusement.
3 22 and 25, mylidan ♥

3. Most common argument?
Over magic, definitely. No matter how hard she tries, it’s hard for Mylenne to get over her prejudices towards the arcane, and Illidan is pretty reluctant - if not outright against it - to hold back what makes him talented. He’s a sorcerer, he’s one of the best at it, and everyone knows that, why shouldn’t he go making their lives easier? He’s inclined to lit up a fire with a click of his fingers while Mylenne would do the conventional way. While probably in the end she’d admit she’s in the wrong somewhat, it doesn’t truly stop them from arguing about it from time to time.
22. Who cooks more/who is better at cooking?
Lol, this is Illidan. He’s not The Chef but given his obsession with performing brilliantly in everything he does, he goes out of his way cooking any meal as carefully as he can, stressing himself over every petty detail. I dare say that kinda leads him to compete against Mylie’s friends over getting the Perfect meal for her. And either way, Mylie is a serious danger in the kitchen - it’s best to leave her to hunting rather than cooking anything LOL.
25. Who needs more assurance?
Welp, again, Illidan does. While Mylie is a very insecure person, she’s more inclined to keep her doubts and fears to herself and not burden her loved ones with her petty assumptions of herself. Meanwhile, Illidan seems to be permanently set on showing off, unconsciously looking at Mylie for reassurance and pretty much craving for her praises and approval.
4, 9, 13, 14 from the ask meme for Ild and Myl??
From this ship ask meme
4. Which one spoils the other more and do they ever get competitive to show the other more love
One of the things Illidan adores the most is spoiling Mylie - nearly to the point of coming up super dense, I’d say. Although she’s not really that far behind! All in all, yeah, they’re very competitive with having one another’s attentions, but it comes to be a little bit unconscious from Mylie’s part - unlike Illidan, who’s always pretty much aware.
9. Which one dissociates
Illidan. As a bipolar, he tends to daydream a lot and some friends mention him sort of being ‘neither here nor there’, detaching mostly when he’s in a stressful situation.
13. How does each act when getting drunk
Mylenne babbles a lot and can’t really hold her liquor as much as she’d like. She tends to be the classic clumsy drunken one when she’s smashed - stumbling upon things, calling people funny names, fainting or falling asleep midway from a proper bed, etc.
Illidan’s pretty fine - sorcerers have more resistance to alcohol - but if he reaches a near mild-intoxication level of drunkness (?) he’s literally the happiest and merrier elf ever. He tends to soften drastically when he’s properly drunk - acting all cute and sweet, snuggling with whoever happens to be close to him, all sorts of self-conscious acts clearly brushed aside and likely to be completely forgotten after falling asleep.
14. Which one rolls over in the morning to wake up the other one just to give kiss them
Mylie! Between those two, she’s definitely The Cuddler sort - and given her always falling asleep before Illidan, she’s also the first to wake up, quite literally climbing him like a tree to kiss him clumsily wherever she can reach in the moment :B
Soo Mylenne/Illidan 2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap? 4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway? 13: Which one likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts? 15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside? 20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters? ^_^
2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap?
That’d be Mylie, because she smol and he tol and big, hahaha.
4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway?
Kinda relates to the previous question, this would be also Mylie. But Illidan would probably stay up because, unlike her, his nightmares are horrible and he’s a light sleeper.
13: Which one likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts?
Illidan, totally - given his serious issues with needing to impress people and sometimes more than others also wanting her attention.
15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside?
I actually don’t know about this one? Despite Mylie’s attunement and liking of the forest and fauna, she despises bugs like spiders just as much as Illidan. Soooo, they’d probably be fighting over this one... or Illidan would just set the place on fire and shrug it off.
20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters? ^_^
None of them, honestly, their handwriting is actually pretty neat for both sides, and both have this near-obsessive and precious care of writing elegantly and flawlessly. Some trivia? Mylie tends to sign her letters with a simple “Myl”, and Illidan with “I.S” - except when tending to nobility or job stuff; with that part, she’s a little forced to sign with “Lady Mylenne [House Stareye sigil]” and Illidan has to use his title... which I’m not saying to avoid some juicy spoilers :D
