I wanted to put some words out there in this time of social distancing and minimal travel + contact regarding our service industry workers. Remember those who are not in a position to work from home. Those people are still out there, serving you meals, coffee, gas, Amazon packages + other more important things like access to medical professionals and medicine, should you really need it. Please remember that these people have families, too. If they had the choice, many of them would choose to stay home for safety sake just like you. But for whatever reasons necessary to them, they are choosing to stay and serve you. Remember that the next time you see your grocery store clerk, your barista, your doctor, your delivery drivers. And if you are in a position to do so, show them some gratitude by being generous. Those that accept tips are certainly not getting that part of their income taken care of, and many come to rely on that generosity. If you are visiting their place or work, be aware or your footprint you leave behind. Don’t lean on counters or touch everything in the store. If it is possible, only pay with your credit or debit cards, or better yet, Apple Pay so you don’t have to touch anything at all! There are so many things we can start to think about doing differently to help out those on the frontline, working for you. We can get through this, as long as we don’t fall apart in the process. Our conscious brain CAN overpower our subconscious that is telling us to live in fear and panic and scarcity mode. Snap out of it, in a sense, and realize your own fullest potential.
