Two weeks ago, I got new glasses. Which was exciting, cause I had worn my old glasses for over 6 years now, since I turned 17. Over that period, my sight didn't really improve, obviously and naturally, so it was time to get new glasses because of my changed sight. But even going out and picking a new model seemed a big step at the time alias 4 weeks ago, cause the I've only known the person I am today with those glasses. I wasn't sure I even wanted to change the model, if I wanted a change in my appearance. Tbh, me starting to get along with myself started around the time I got those last glasses, so naturally I was attached to them and the look, cause I was so used to it. So when I went to the store with my friend L. I was nervous and excited and after struggling a bit I settled on one and ordered it. I startet to get excited for my new glasses, for the new person I might grow into behind those glasses. Then two weeks ago, I went to pick them up, and at first it was very strange because of the new eyesight, but I was very happy with the look of it and the next day, I went out, proudly intending to present my incredible smart looking new glasses and guess what: Noone noticed them. Except for my boyfriend (luckily for him) and my sister. Those were the only two people who saw that I had changed something. Noone at my office, nor my friends, not even my mother, noticed. Not even my friend L. who accompanied me when I picked those glasses realized that I was wearing them now. In their defense, it is a quite similar model to my old glasses, so it isn't as obvious a change as I may have sounded above. But it is still a very noticeable change to me. At first I was bumped, that they didn't see or simply didn't comment on it, and then it got me thinking... Are my friends and colleagues not really looking at me? Do they just kinda scan over me and don't actually pay that much attention to my face? Shouldn't they notice the change if they were just looking at me properly? That bumped me out even more. And isn't this a very ironic sentence to drop in general? Think about it. #tbc -A.O. #mynewglasses #philosophy #diary #personalblog #snippetsfrommylife https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo5GvF4lHGv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=vldm9l69b9u5
