I didn’t really expect that. I just sort of assumed that 17776 would last for a ridiculously long time; probably due to all the comparisons made between it and Homestuck.
It was quite a neat and tidy ending, even if seeming a touch rushed. Like others have said before, the ideas and concepts are the important part of 17776 rather than the smaller parts - it didn’t need to be long. It gave us pause for thought and now it’s over. That said, the frankly fantastic nature of the smaller details shouldn’t be overlooked. From JUICE’s esoteric tangents to the inanity of the football games taking place it was all so good. It might come back one day - I certainly hope it does in some capacity - but what we got was an ending which made sense. Just as we began with 9 entering the ‘new world‘, we ended with them going offline; maybe the fact 9 isn’t going offline permanently could reflect 17776 not ending permanently. Doubtful, but it could be interesting. JUICE’s rushed attempt to answer 9′s questions was rather nice, as was 10′s gentle explanation of the process of recharging. It was good.
Funny as it was poignant, 17776 was fantastic. I think that, despite it’s short time with us, it’ll be remembered for years to come.
