Why did my job have us come into work when the building has no internet….
I could have stayed home 🤭. I was perfectly fine in the comfort of my house and had the tools to work from home.
Honestly though, why do some companies do everything in their power to have their staff in, even during times where it makes sense to work from home? The time I wasted getting dressed, driving here and finding parking I could have spent logged on and locked in. It’s allowed within the company that I work for, but frowned upon if you request it. Like, we have to explain why we want to work from home and “so I can focus and not get sucked into office distractions” is not a good enough reason.
Don’t get me started on the time my kitchen ceiling fell in after a pipe burst and I literally spent the entire night mopping up water and ceiling. The plumber and maintenance said they could come first thing in the morning and I literally had to beg (and hold myself back from crying) to wfh because my boss asked “can’t this wait until the weekend?”. It was a fucking Monday morning.
I find the bosses who think working from home is unnecessary do everything but work when they themselves work from home. Are you guilty because you know you don’t actually do work and think everyone does the same? I find it hilarious but also very irritating.
Until then, selfies I guess.
