ngl its crazy theres not like a ton of cillos and pelops art like this mf was pelops bro so much he fucking returned as a ghost to help pelops win the race. pelops godamn ghost powers. huh, now that I think about it, Oenomaus becomes a ghost, a Taraxippus in some sources too. and Myrtilus manages to throw out a real genuine curse before he dies... this is a ghost story oh my god greek mythology jujitsu kaisan
Hello I love your Pelops art! Anyway, I have to ask , what's Pelops' relationship with Myrtilus?
Thanks for answering!
Quick summary for those who don't know who Myrtilus is and don't wanna click a link.
In the story of Pelops and Hippodamia, Myrtilus was the charioteer of King Oenomaus of Pisa. Also a son of Hermes. Now there are different ways of him being bribed either by Pelop or Hippodamia. Which in my telling it would be Hippodamia. The bribe was often said to be with Hippodamia for a night or land of the kingdom. NOW he did take the bribe, and is the reason why Oenomaus fell to his death.
Now asker, you wanted to know the relationship between Pelops and Myrtilus. In a word. Tense.
Pelops in this telling is not aware of the deal. Mostly because Hippodamia I think honestly was looking out for him, wanting to make sure he won. And Pelops only finds out after he kills Myrtilus about the deal and tries to make right with Lord Hermes. But the curse was already set.
I really don't see them as friends, and Pelops was competition so I doubt Myrtilus would be mingling for the sake of Oenomaus seeing
The Jason's Cloak in Apollonius Argonautica
(just a quick concept and based in very first impressions)
Based on the descriptions in Ap. Rhod. Argon. 1. 721-773, imo could be this two options:
And here is the page of the represented mythological figures:
And here an speculation based on the description of the cloak "on each margin" so I also imagined being heptagonal as well as rectangular:
What do you think about all this?
(Btw, Hermes' clothing is called a chlamys and the other guy's is called a himation. The first one is worn as a cape.
Ap. Rhod. Argon. 1. 721-773:
It’s funny how Perseus and Pelops are besties but Perseus’s god boyfriend hates Pelops and Pelops’s god boyfriend probably hates Perseus

MYRTILUS
In Greek mythology, Myrtilus was the charioteer of the king of Pisa, and a son of the god Hermes. When he was murdered by Pelops, his father set him in the heavens as the constellation Auriga.
