It used to be that he’d do anything he could do to avoid drawing attention to himself
He learned quickly that attention for his “Savior” wasn’t always the best
It was all he knew - all forms of attention would have to be bad, right?
He was wrong
Things changed really quick when he met this fantastic “Best friend MC” Saeyoung always gushed about
The very first thing she did when she met him was hug him like ??? what in the actual fu-
MC was always laughing at his quiet and sassy remarks to his brother
All other members of the RFA accepted him of course, and they were always nice, but they kept their distance
MC always wanted to sit right against his side, show him funny stuff on their phone
What is this person are they even a human being?
And somehow, Saeran... liked it...
It scared him that he liked it, was he supposed to?
He always wanted to hug them too, hold their hand, have them cuddle him or sit in his lap
His brother was the one to give him the encouragement
“You sure seem to enjoy all the attention MC gives you. You never let me touch your hair or sit close enough to show you videos.”
Shit, his secret was out
“I don’t, that’s weird. I don’t like it and I don’t have to, you don’t know anything-”
His brother only smiled gently, “Saeran. It’s okay to like attention. If it makes you happy, then you can like it. And if it scares you, you’re allowed to dislike it. Your feelings are valid. Remember that.”
He decides maybe he’ll give it a chance
When they show him videos, he leans into their embrace
When they hug him, he hugs them back and holds on for as long as he can
MC always smells so nice and their hair is so soft
Sometimes he even grows braver, when the distance between him and MC almost seems overwhelming
“You can play with my hair if you want...” or “Sit on my lap so we can both watch the video easier?”
MC never turns him down
He soaks up the attention like a kitten, nuzzling close and thriving in MC’s hands in his hair, MC’s hand in his own, MC’s arms around him
No one mocks him
No one degrades him for liking the affection, and everything is okay
On Valentine’s day THIS BOY
He edits together a long video of cute animals, he knows they’re MC’s weakness, that they can watch together
Saeyoung and Saeran had built forts as kids, and he remembers how great it was and how he always felt safe and protected in them
So he builds a couch cushion fort, adorns it with pillows and blankets, flowers and chocolates
They’re not dating but it sounds so nice to him if MC will have him
He’d never felt like that before for anyone
MC shows up with the exact same kind of chocolates and a stuffed pink cat
It makes him so happy that they all but leap into his arms when they see the fort
MC kisses his cheek and he is living
Inside the fort with popcorn, Phd. Pepper that they stole from Saeyoung, and their chocolates, MC once again jumps into his arms, but this time they press a huge kiss to his cheek in thanks
He turns almost as red as his natural hair color holy frick
“I really like hugging you and holding your hand and watching cute videos with me so maybe watch cute animal videos with only me for as long as you’ll have me?”
It all comes out in a babble, but MC cups his face and laughs and presses a soft and hesitant kiss to the corner of his mouth
“If you’re asking me to date you, the answer is yes. I’d love to watch cute videos with only you.”
Saeran has never been happier for as long as he can remember
He gets to hug, hold, kiss, love MC and it never makes him feel bad or unwanted
He loves being loved
And that’s more than okay
