I call these shots “Metro Bench and the Giant Doll.” I was on my to Starbucks to grab a cup of coffee. It was early on December 29th in 2015 when saw this enchanting angel, a My Size Barbie” simply setting on the bus bench doing nothing but looking beautiful swaddled in a blanket, scuffed and worn. This giant doll sparked so many different emotions and thoughts that stirred inside me. There is the weirdness of a giant doll abandoned on a bus bench on Thursday. I thought of the disconnection and absurdity of the context of a giant doll abandoned in a urban setting. Then it was further defined by it lying in the middle of DTLA’s Arts District on a Metro Bus bench. There’s the idea of innocence being sullied by perversion and the distortion of its original purpose juxtaposition against an dramatic unintended end. The doll was something that was created to offer joy and celebration and now represents an indescribable sadness and unexpected loneliness. @dtlaartsdistrict @dtlaweekly #dtlaartsdistrict #mysizebarbie #mysizebarbiedoll #barbie #barbiedoll #dtla #dtlalife #losangelesmetro #busstop #giantdoll #artphotography #artphotographer #art #photographicart #socialcommentary #celebrityphotography #losangeles #photography #photographer #losangelesphotographer #losangelesphotography #photographerslife #culture #artsandculture https://www.instagram.com/p/CKKih73JINH/?igshid=af7pi4v1cgo2
