After completing Jaehee’s route I was really upset with Jumin, but then I stop to realize that not intentionally trying to be the antagonist. He’s dealing with his own emotions that are a complete tangled mess. And whose fault is that?

The parents. And if you really think about it, all the RFA members have awful parents/step-parents 😭 Maybe this was obvious but it took me some time to recognize the pattern

It is a known fact by the entirety of the RFA that he hacks shit for a living when he could easily pretend he has a regular (((legal))) IT job but noooo

Claims everything to do w his job is a secret but will constantly drop hints about how dangerous it is and will even go into story tangents about his various adventures whenever he feels like it

Talks about a hacker group that constantly chases him, making it very clear that he does ILLEGAL SHIT

Hell even invites them to the party

Openly only uses cash

Speaking of cash, makes a shitton of it somehow

Again, he openly admits he’s a hacker!!! Hackers don’t do that!!! They say they’re a techie for some random firm, or something else entirely!!!! They’re not this open!!! If saeyoung were really so secretive, only V would know mfs a hacker and everyone else would think he works at some start up or something

Admitted to running away from home and having a brother the moment someone asked him

Will tell you his thinly veiled allegorical dreams about his origin story whenever he feels like it (mother cat and brother cat dream, the pirate ship and planet one, etc.)

After playing all the routes leading up to his, the only surprise in his backstory would probably be the prime minister thing and his name tbh

On Playthroughs (Mystic Messenger)

Okay so I never realized how some people dislike using walkthroughs??? I’ve used them since the beginning, so of course I would discuss that as a part of my experience in the game.

But objectively stating that I “used a walkthrough on so-and-so’s route bc it was difficult and tricky” gets me being lowkey shaded against because I use them. I honestly think nothing special of using a walkthrough because you still experience the game whether you use it or not, depending on the person. And I’m gonna be honest that I have not done all the routes, and have played them out of the *traditional* order.

Now I get the appeal as to why some people would prefer not to use walkthroughs (to get the experience and fun of the game, etc.), but people in the fandom should be aware that NOT everyone has the commitment let alone time to play every single one of the characters in order because unlike other games, Mystic Messenger requires a time commitment.

I had numerous academic responsibilities. To have some leisure I played the game, but couldn’t bear messing up/getting bad ends. It gets tricky playing when you know you are in a time crunch due to school, work, projects, and so on. Again, I know some are fine with that (if you prefer collecting all the endings, but again, to each their own).

It feels disheartening to share about something you love, only to be met with responses such as, “How do you need a walkthrough, it’s not THAT hard” or “oMg you didn’t play the game iN oRdEr?11!!!” and “yOu mUst hAve pLayed ALL the routes before getting into so-and-so’s story-”

...Games exist for pleasure and leisure, and I think that every person has the freedom of playing at their own will. I finally understand why many are put off with fandom purists (eg. Undertale, where people pressured newcomers to play in a *specific* way which put many others off for loving the game that it is).

While I do support stating your opinion, pushing them on someone passive-aggressively is something else. This is my two cents on this take. Fandoms in general can get quite rough for many different reasons, so stay safe y’all ✌🏼

Mystic messenger but you actually stumble upon the Hackers Chasing Hackers messenger app and boom Saeyoungs the villain

Saeran is still behind this and chooses to get you involved w HCH to help take the redhead down…maybe you’re also a really competent hacker or maybe HCH are really lonely and need some woman to project onto motivation to get better at hacking shit idfk…or maybe Saeran needs someone as oblivious as MC to manipulate and have more control over the situation idk pick your fav

Something about the payoff of this super threatening hacker shrouded in mystery actually being some cute lil cosplayer is just immaculate to me

Also actually being shown how “dangerous” saeyoung is instead of being told kinda puts his whole situation in perspective

(Bonus if you really want to fuck w ppl: all the HCH members’ names and designs are very obviously derivative of the RFA but completely jumbled up. ie. Jaemin Han is a bespectacled bluenette often overworked by her direct higher up, Saehyun Choi. She is in charge of handling the organizations’ emails and PR. Her icon can be seen as the representative of HCH in the RFA app. Though talented and efficient, she can be quite gullible, often falling for the pranks ZIN pulls on her.)
