Here's all my physical otome games for my switch! The Diabolik Lovers game actually has 2 games in 1 so I have 9 but I also have a digital copy of another otome game. So I have 10 otome games on my switch.
But all together I have 13 otomes as I have 2 on my PS vita, and one on my PC.
Light and night is having a hong Kong themed banner and I appreciate the aesthetic. But they had the original voice actors speak lines in Cantonese and it was not it 😭 I wish they'd just hire Cantonese speaking voice actors for that event although I'm guessing it would sound weird for people who were used to the official Mandarin voice actors already
I love when otome has gameplay in otome games. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the visual novel format that a lot of otome "games" have but also I also enjoy when there is gameplay. Obey Me 1 and 2, LADS, and Lovebrush Chronicles are examples of actual otome games. As much as I enjoy the examples I've listed obviously I don't want to always play gacha games (I do not want to keep gambling to get my fav twink) to experience both romance and gameplay. That's why I am very pleasantly surprised when Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly has gameplay. I really hope that there will be more otome games (non-gacha ones) with different gameplay genre like battle strategy for example. I'm not implying that all otome games should have gameplay as I know there are people who don't want that, but I do where there were options for people who want romance and gameplay to be there in the otome game genre. Even if there is more focus on the otome aspects of the game than there is gameplay I'd still be happy about that.
Here is a summary of Eugene's Route from sins of Kaleido!
Again this is from memory and will not include all the details.
Common route summary
Don't click below when you don't want spoilers!
Before we choose Eugene's route you will notice that suddenly Orsem is shown as an option too!
The first two times you choose him he will ignore you. The third time he invites Yolca to his room for "stress relief", chokes her and tells her how much he hates her, yet only lists her positive traits as reasons. Apparantly he wants to fuck her so bad it makes him look stupid lol
This results in an Bad End.
After this fun we return to the route selection screen without Orsem as an option pfft. Just you wait!
Now to actually get to Eugene:
The route starts with Eugene introducing Yolca to a lot of his high tier connections and not a single person calls her being a Yulewood into question. Eugene was right when he said that choosing him is the fastest way to power. Yolca is getting uneasy though. She is getting so much from Eugene, but has nothing to offer to him herself.
When she opens up about it he understands and casually says that she can pay him back with her body😅. He would come visit her tonight. Yolca is unsure and calls her guardian/master Shannon for advice on whether she thinks it's a good idea.
Well, Shannon would never offer her body and would rather find out what the other party actually wants and she hangs up in horror when she realizes that Yolca is probably being coerced into something.
But then Eugene shows up with Heath to go to the Kaleidotower instead to find glowing stones. Yolca is relieved that apparantly Eugene was just joking.
Heath has his moment clinging to Yolca again and Eugene finds it easy to find those stones. Heath has a moment where he says that he prays for Yolca's happiness and Eugene quietly comments that even she has someone to pray for her.
After leaving the tower Yolca unfortunately finds out that Eugene was not joking and intents to get his "payment" tonight. Yolca wants him to find something else she can do for him, and that once she is head of Yulewood there's a lot she could do for him. Eugene is very disinterested though.
Then Yolca says that she could pray for him and for some reason Eugene then completely stops in his tracts and says that praying once a day for his happiness would be enough.
The next day Shannon storms the base to give Yolca a body check and disappears when she realizes that nothing happened to her. She gives Yolca a stern warning that she belongs to her before disappearing. Tsundere Mom lol
Eugene actually pulls Shannon aside to scold her for teaching Yolca seduction half-heartedly.
Eugene is not a fan of Yolca's desire for doing philantropy like her parents did. Selfish desire is the only thing worth pursueing to him and what he dislikes he will change it until it's to his liking.
He offers Yolca hights higher than Yulewood if she's willing to change for it. Yolca remarks that there is something not human about Eugene in this moment.
Remember how someone killed Liam in the new common route? The government now wants Vy-xen to find out who it was.
So Yolca and Eugene look for Liam who says that he knows nothing of his killer since he was blindfolded and got headphones put on very fast before being killed. When meeting Ambrose Eugene completely blocks the duty of defeating witches. He really doesn't like the word "duty".
They find a secret potion shop on one of the floors of the Kaleidotower. Yolca warns him to not touch stuff, but of course he drinks a "make the people around you love you for 3 minutes" potion. This results in Eugene getting spoiled with a lap pillow and headpats from Yolca for 3 minutes. This get's even Eugene flustered.
She isn't pleased after those 3 minutes are over though. Before they leave Yolca gives Eugene a body search just to be sure he didn't smuggle something and does find a potion in his pockets. Later he laughs saying that she should've stripped him too since he still had a piece of paper hidden under his clothes.
In between here you can also get a Bad End by accusing Orsem of killing Liam. He then says that she really should be be smarter than that and that Eugene is probably at fault. Orsem then chokes her while saying that she is unsightly when devoting herself to a man. Is that jealously I hear?
A while of not finding new clues they go find Liam again who isn't too happy to help this time because "Yolca doesn't actually care about him". A "big brother🥺" makes him fold in seconds though. Seems like Liam first thought his killer was a woman since they had black painted nails like Cecil's sister.
Yolca tries to keep a neutral face but instantly thinks Eugene is the killer since he has black painted nails too. Eugene spills the beans fast though, enraging Liam. Liam attacks Yolca for daring to come here with his killer and Eugene just laughs before finally helping her.
Liam disappears into thin air after attacking Eugene seemingly dead for good now. Seems like Liam isn't the only one with backlash powers.
With Liam gone Eugene suddenly forces a kiss on Yolca while slapping that weird paper on her back. He wants her to stop being human and asks if he is her hated number 1 now with Liam gone. Yolca wakes up in her bad after two days with a high fever. She is terribly hungry, but nothing she eats can sate her.
She goes to bed, but suddenly wakes up in Eugenes room, looming over him. Eugene gleefully explains that the curse he placed on her makes her hunger for his flesh and that only eating his heart will cure her hunger.
Yolca absolutely refuses. She doesn't want to become a cannibal and stop being human. Eugene says that she can only make herself kill people for others or society, but not for herself. He wants to pass on his Gift to Yolca and eating his heart is the only way.
Since she would never do so normally, he had to force her hand a little. His Gift can grant wishes, yet he can't use it anymore. Yolca would be able to make great use of it though, he says.
The price for his Gift is to be unable to die unless killed by the one he truly loves. That would also be very convinient for Yolca. Yolca is struggling with her hunger but thankfully a box of candies appears in her room than calms her urges. Who put that there though?
She goes out to buy of that candy brand and runs into Eugene and his employee Willow. Willow just brought the last of those candies but happily gives them to Yolca. A lost dog appears and despite "hating" dogs Eugene holds it up in his arms.
Yolca wants to find the potion shop again for something to lift the curse on her and drags Eugene with her. Though sadly they never find it again. Instead they are found by Eugene's witch so we get backstory this time! Remember the Jorr Hyde Church bullshit in Tilkett's route?
Eugene is the current Living God that Tilkett saved with his Gift. Living Gods are usually children below the age of 10 who are fed the heart of their predecessor.
Little Eugene would listen to the woes of the church's followers and shed tears for them. His tears turn into magical crystals that can grant various wishes. So he was confined in one room just crying for people all day. But well his tears are all dried up now.
The name Pico also came up, but that memory was blocked. Eugene redirects Yolca to Willow if she wants to know more about it. Later Willow explains that Pico was Eugene's dog.
Willow was another Living God candidate until Eugene was picked instead. Pico and Willow were Eugene's playmates who would be physically punished instead if Eugene misbehaved and refused to do his "duty".
In the Kaleidotower we get another mental appraisal session with Eugene. He came across a record that he apparantly has a genetic disorder that blurres the lines between himself and others. The feelings and experiences of others are like felt like they were his own.
Usually Living Gods are killed around age 10 by their own parents since kids usually "truly love" their parents still at that stage. Yet Eugene was still alive at age 11 due to him being a perfect fit for the role with this disorder.
Now knowing his fate little Eugene becomes increasingly rebellious until his parents are called to kill him. However, they both die trying as Eugene couldn't love them anymore.
The church goes as far as drugging Pico and locking them in a room together. Eugene would've been fine being killed by Pico, yet the dog prefered to kill himself by running against the wall over and over again. Since then Eugene could not cry a single tear.
Eugene is also now afraid that he will become an immortal being denied death. So he sees Yolca as his one and only chance to die. Who knows how often he can get himself to love again?
Yolca, actually touched by that backstory, agrees to eat him next week to make him a part of herself. This type of happiness can only granted by her after all.
The Tilkett plot comes crashing in where the Church is calling for him to become their next Living God since their current one can't grant wishes and can't be killed. Having an ultimate healer isn't too bad either for them. Eugene couldn't be unhappier.
Though before he comes running to prevent this Yolca wants to spend the night together (Yolca nooooo). The next day he is off to manage a solution with the Church that doesn't require Tilkett.
When he comes back he tells Yolca that he will try to act as a Living God again. She gave him the hope that maybe he could change for the better and regain his ability to cry for others again. He wants to free Yolca from her curse (which is super easy apparantly), but before he can Yolca is shot by an assassin from the church!
Yolca is declared dead in the hospital and Eugene finds out quickly that it's the church's fault and crashes out. Yolca wakes up covered in crystal tears and Tilkett greets her relieved, saying she had made a miracle recovery.
Willow comes in to inform them that Eugene was possessed by his witch and is now a massive, biblically accurate dragon-angel thing... And it rains poison onto the country!
Yolca is the only one who can kill him and is handed a button that will launch an attack on him by the military. She steps into the rain that damages her skin and presses the button saying she loves Eugene.
She then eats his heart gaining his Gift and becomes the next Living God, a stronger one than Eugene ever was. Yet she spends her days collecting everything connected Eugene, not knowing that he is watching over her. The End(?).
