Mysuru Dasara is the Nadahabba means state festival of Karnataka.It is believed that Devi Chamundeswari killed demon Mahishasur here in this place on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami and the place was named as Mahishapura. From Mahisapura it is now called Mysuru or Mysore Mysore city is located at the foot of Chamundeswari hills.

Dasara festival was started by the king of Vijaynagar in about 14th century. The 412th Dussehra has been organized from September 26, 2022 to 5th October,2022.

On Vijayadashami, the last day of Dasara, the festival is marked by processions with decorated elephants known as Jamboo Savari. The main attraction of this procession is the idol of the Goddess Chamundeshwari which is placed on a golden mantapa on the top of a decorated elephant.

Another attraction to the festival is that the Mysore Palace and Mysore city is lighten up with thousands of light. The festivity is grand and it is a experience of lifetime .
