Batman #545–Dark Knight, Dark City pt 3!

Aka this is the issue where Batman has to give a baby an emergency tracheotomy because the riddler made him swallow a ping pong ball. That little bit of horror aside, I really do appreciate the spooky conclusion to this story. I love me a good living city gotham type story. This is also the story that introduced Barbatos I believe which Morission proceeded to do far more tedious stuff with.

i read the first five issues of ms marvel (2014) and it's really good!!! i really like kamala and her character journey. i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series ^_^.

miss martian <3333 she's so underutilized i love that she's hyper-emotional & somewhat hypocritical her perspective as a martian refugee fascinates me. pretty sure there are people who hate her on principle bc of her portrayal in the yj tv show which is soooo annoying bc that's literally not her it's practically an elseworlds 😭 free my girl she didn't do all that!!

In my opinion the worst musical instrument is the tromba marina. It's a stringed instrument from the 1600s and it sounds like a rusty garage door. Around that time nuns weren't allowed to play trumpets, but they were allowed to play the tromba marina, though i can't for the life of me understand why. It's sometimes called a nun's fiddle because of this

i discovered helena wayne through helena bertinelli; the confusion of there being *two* huntresses really hurt my brain at first, since i was also very, very new to dc comics at the same time, and long story short my dumbass read crossbow: at the crossroads as a helena bertinelli story as one of the first comics i read for huntress, then was inevitably confused by the discussions i found about that comic.

sitting down for a couple of hours go through the huntress wikipedia page, however, helped me unlearn and relearn until i finally had a pretty clear concept of the differences between the two huntresses!! and i was farther interested in checking out helena wayne's comics when i saw a post about her and power girl tagged as "#superbat for girls"

i really love helena wayne a lot and feel drawn to her more and more every day because she's such a fascinating and lovable character to me. this is my personal takeaway from her comics, but i like how grounded she feels; i usually find her reasonable and balanced yet not generic or vanilla. she is very deeply attached to her parents and loves them and acknowledges them both in her life continually, yet she is very self-reliant and is more than just an extension of them. she has her emotional baggage and demons, she does care personally about the causes she fights for, yet she is usually able to stay pragmatic in her vigilantism without losing her humanity, making moments where she does lose her cool significant.

i really like that she's funny, fast on her feet, and adaptive. she definitely bottles up her emotions or compartmentalises to some degree, but she doesn't take it out on other people. for me, she's a hero character (sometimes i classify her as an antihero, but often times, other superheroes still treat her like a fellow hero and not a loose cannon, as opposed to how helena bertinelli is perceived) that i can connect with and actually understand where she's coming from, while also being able to appreciate how impressive she is.

and i love how (again, my personal reading) despite helena wayne and helena bertinelli being very different people, their huntresses don't contradict, but rather, they jointly expand and enrich what it means to be the huntress. protecting innocent lives, delivering retributive justice and doing what's fair, feeling strongly about the causes you fight for, asserting your independence, working with not just individual cases but also systematic issues as a whole, and most importantly, in my opinion, they're both deeply motivated by love; they're the huntress because they care, because they're so human underneath all of that.

How I feel about this character

She's rly great and super underrated up there with matt murdock in tortured Catholics hall of fame.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Mostly Babs and Dinah. With Dick or Tiger I'm not against it but I am very picky and have only found like one fic for them sooo. I also found her and vic in the jlu cartoon I watched as a kid very cute.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Honestly probably the people I ship her with her with, babs or dinah is very nice whether it's romantic or platonic. Her and Tim are super cute though!! Also her dynamics with Bruce and Leslie are fun.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I enjoy her 1989 solo as much as cry for blood idk if that's unpopular or not though.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I'd love to see more of her with steph especially considering they were both "outsiders" to like the core batfam.
