Why
Why why whyyyy did Sansa even get invited to the wight meeting if Jon is the only one with power over the north? Why even bother to send a raven to her if she is only serving as queen regent for Jon while he’s away, when Jon himself would be there???? Cersei only agreed to this meeting because Jaime convinced her, Jaime was convinced by Tyrion who was representing Dænys best interest, Cersei knows that Jon is with them. So why invite The Lady of Winterfell if Jon is the king, not Sansa??? Cersei agreeing to ceasefire would only help Dæny, so why even agree to the meeting? Why take it upon herself to invite Sansa when she wasn’t even the one who had the idea to have the meeting to begin with?
In fact, Cersei seemed more into the meeting after inviting Sansa, she must have set up a spot for her to sit and arranged a place for her ppl. This must mean she sees Sansa as a very important player and a huge threat. We don’t know if she ever even received word that Sansa was sending Brienne as her emissary. So I started thinking what could answer all these questions and I thought it could a few things...
Cersei really did want to take Sansa prisoner much like Dæny has taken Jon (“if Cersei wants another Stark prisoner she can come here and take me herself”) Cersei could want the key to the north for herself.
Cersei recognizes that Sansa and Jon are a team and she wants both of the people with power over the North (northerners only recognize the lord/lady or Winterfell whose a Stark) to be present in the meeting
She wanted to drive a wedge between Sansa and Jon (much like little finger tried to do in the crypts to Jon and the entirety of s7 to Sansa) to create chaos in the North. She could have done this by addressing Sansa as having more power than Jon because she’s a legitimate Stark, showing Dæny that Jon might not have all the power she thinks he does (which would have done total damage to undercover Jon IF it’s really going down)
Plot development to get Brienne south to show Jaime that the survival of the realm is more important than loyalty over who sits on the throne and that it is also more important than the politics separating them.
Cersei was struck by a sudden need to organize and invite people to the meeting because she was inspired to plan for this event, even though it wasn’t her idea in the first place.
Idk what the reason was, but i know that Cersei is not dumb and with Sansa in the North, she must know that Sansa already knows about the threat of the white walkers (even if she’s never actually seen one, she believed Jon’s word and saw the real fear in his eyes and believed him) and she doesn’t need to be invited to see it for herself to believe it as she already believes it. Yet Cersei still went out of her way to invite her.
Which raised the question to me, who really wrote and sent that invitation to Sansa? Was it even Cersei or was it Tyrion or Jon? If it was Jon, Sansa wouldn’t have have said that she hadn’t heard from him until the scroll about him bending the knee, which happens after the meeting. If it was Tyrion, he should have let Dæny know that Jon might not have total power over the north and if he did know this, he intentionally kept it from her. And then we have Cersei who would love nothing more than to have Sansa return to the place where she endured the worst years of her life, because she still blames her for Jofferys death and wants her revenge. The show never realeased a picture of this scroll as they’ve done with other documents in the show, so I can’t be sure who wrote it. Only that whoever did send it recognizes Sansa as having power over the North even if it is partial power, it is enough to make it worth inviting her.
If anyone has a picture of the scroll please feel free to share I couldn’t find one but I also didn’t look very hard lol
TLDR
Sansa and Jon both have power in the North and the only person who seems to recognize this in s7, is whoever invited Sansa to the wight hunt meeting in Kings Landing. Whose identity happens to be shrouded in mystery, and also happens to be the only scroll actively shown being burnt. What would the hound see if he had been there to look into the flames as they consumed the scroll??? 🔥👀 🧐🤔
