“The Minutemen have established...relatively safe supply lines all across the Commonwealth now, that should hopefully pave the way for your organization to integrate nicely. There are a few key stops your caravans should make to help reinvigorate Commonwealth Trade, but beyond that there isn’t much else we can do unless your caravans are keen to transport necessary supplies to our team underground who are working on the railway reclamation.”
BY NOW he was half expecting some protest given that normally his suggestions came off a little harsh, but that was the nature of “political business” in the Commonwealth, and with the General preoccupied in Far Harbor, there was no telling WHAT could go wrong if he wasn’t careful.
“I take it you have questions.”

29. Pirates
“Eyeing my ship, are you, carina?”
It’s not particularly wise to approach civilians, even ones as unassuming as the redhead before him. But Alex recognizes that look, that sparkling in her eyes. It’s longing. He remembers staring up at a ship much like this when he was much younger than her, lost and alone after the death of his mother.
He can already hear some members of his crew bemoaning the presence of a woman on his ship but Alex never subscribed to that superstition. Not when his mother had been the only good thing in his life until being picked up as a cabin boy. So he’d be remiss if he didn’t at least address the woman staring at his ship with such awe and fascination.
“Have you sailed before, señorita? Or is there some other reason you seen so taken by my ship?”
@mysterybusiness for lara;
Sam preferred to not think about Yamatai. Kidnapped, strung up, and almost sacrificed, the events haunted her sleeping hours and she doesn’t want to give them her waking ones too.
“Lara.” From her seat on the couch, Sam’s leg uncurls and stretches toward her friend, a socked foot nudging her in the thigh. “You’ve been reading for hours. What are you on now?” Sam was understandable of Lara’s bookworm tendencies, but it was almost noon. Going out for a bite while the sun was out didn’t sound like a bad idea, especially given her nightmares last night.
@mysterybusiness marci & river !
“you’re my saviour.” for the third time that week. disposing of the last twig that had gotten stuck in his hair, river flashed marci a sheep, but thankful, smile. unlike marci he was not so adept with a sword. it was a miracle he survived looting for materials at all. “I just finished up some manganese steel bars if you want some in return for, you know, saving my butt again.”

she gave him a sideways glance before managing a tiny laugh, her smile outlined by the flickering flame before them. as horrible as the blight was, he was right about it bringing people together and on their journey she’d seen more than she’d seen her entire life in the alienage. she had no idea that water could go on for that long or just how many trees there were or what a halla was. despite everything else, she’d remember those parts fondly if they survived that.
‘ maybe the good parts. i could stand to forget some of it. ‘ elian managed, staring ahead at the fire with her smile growing bigger before she remembered to lighten the mood a little. ‘ like your snoring. ‘
“Not all of us are blessed with the ability to breathe in complete silence at a vertical angle, Little Miss Perfect Sinuses,” Alistair retorts -- pitch raised with staged indignation. “I would even venture to say it’s creepier to make no sound at all! If I was paid for the amount of times I’ve mistaken you for dead -- I could clean out the Wonders of Thedas’ entire stock...” The campfire warms her grin in a vivid gold, and he imagines that despite smiling in the same way she does, he looks somehow significantly less resplendent. “Maybe I could train myself to whistle a lullaby through my nostrils? Imitate birdsong to send you to sleep?”

HIS FOOTSTEPS QUICKEN , BRINGING him to match pace with her . ❝ dorothea , ❞ he begins , tone perhaps not as abrasive as one might expect given his demeanor , ❝ i wanted to thank you for your assistance in that last battle . i should have been paying more attention to my surroundings , and if you hadn't attacked when you did , i likely would have died . ❞ he's really going to have to speak to caspar about his tendency to shout so distractingly in battle — hubert was lucky this time , as dorothea had been there , but he really needs to think of the future .
