Emi’s interactions with the decimo family has always been limited , mostly with her mentor , Kyouya Hibari . Though she regarded them all with high respect , she could tell that they were having their doubts about the 11th Cloud Guardian — but she had been Ayane’s first pick , and it was up to the heiress to build her own guardians . Though , at least , they seemed to be as sharp as she was when it came to her brother . His foolish and altruistic persona certainly did not fool anyone of the 10th generation members , and it is to no surprise that Chrome was no exception . She was an illusionist , after all . Of course she can see past the false smiles . She’s only met her a few times in her own time , but given what she knew of the Mist Guardians , she figured Chrome would be used to the sight of manipulation .
Who did this to her ? Who took out her heart and replaced it with a boulder ? The very people she was supposed to love and trust with her entire life . When Ayane blasted herself into the past , Emi had followed with no hesitation . Emi would have put her life on the line for her — and this was how she had repaid her . Like her father , she cast her aside . No longer a thorn in her side , Emi joined the ranks of the Varia while they tried to fix all the work they had undid , putting Byakuran back into power . They almost failed . They almost lost , putting their own future in danger . Now that they were back , fixing the mess Ayane had made .
However , while Ayane had fixed the past that would have turned the world upside down , she only succeeded in breaking the bridge between them . Emi wanted to forgive her , for throwing her aside like yesterday’s trash , but if her time with the Varia had taught her anything , it was — ironically — a sense of self - worth . And she deserved better than being treated so poorly , just to pretend like it never happened .
Emi had left as someone who was devoted to their Juuichihime and a love and care for them that was being hidden by a well - place facade , but came back as someone colder but better .
「 I did this to myself , 」 she finally answers, her crystalline gaze meeting hers , dipping her head respectfully . 「 If they want to make me out to be the bad guy , then I will give them every reason to . 」 And while she will fight and serve the idea and mission of the Vongola — she no longer wanted to be associated with them .
