The slurred complaints he got in return of his intervention made Jellal’s eyebrow ( arch ); if Laxus meant to get him to SYMPATHIZE, it failed royally. In fact, the masked wizard felt his choice only validated further.
“If you drink ANY MORE, you will REGRET it tomorrow”, the lost prince merely ( quietly ) replied, shrugging his shoulders.
When the Lightning Mage’s head pressed against his thigh, Jellal sucked in a breath, feeling warmth spread in his chest. It wasn’t that this was unusual, far from it --- they’d been far more intimate during countless past encounters. Yet this still got to him... the more innocent, gentle contacts; the type of closeness he’d resolved himself to shove away when he’d left Edolas to save this parallel one.
Still, the drunken stupor of his fellow guildmate made the ( entire experience ) much less ENDEARING.
“Oh, quit it. You’ll thank me in the morning.”
( not that he’d be there still; the thought was pondered sadly. )
The gesture was hesitant, but he raised a gloved hand to the top of Laxus’ head and let his fingers thread through the golden locks, in a manner he hoped was pleasing.
“I think…. I think it’s sleepy time for Laxus.”
--- Jellal snorted lightly, quietly.
“I wish i remembered… lullaby. D’you have one?”
He hesitated, fingers halting their movements in the blond hair of the man. What a strange request. What a strange feeling it gave him as well, knotting his stomach so tightly.
( But the lyrics came to him, softly, and the Prince of Edolas ended up lulling his ‘friend’ to sleep, with nothing short of the song his mother used to sing to him. )
