Mystrade fluff is my favorite. There's so many!

One of my recent favorites is "The Fifth Annual NSY Interdepartmental Paintball Game" (10K, G) by @221addie. Mycroft's a badass, and the Yarders admire his sharpshooter and strategy skills. Greg likes showing him off, even if it means him doing things he never would otherwise.

"I Don't Do What You Tell Me" (40K, E) by @jaybeefoxy is a brilliant exploration of what would bring the canon versions of these two together, with a nice hurt/comfort interlude. There's lots in here about what makes up the appeal of Mystrade, why the two together make sense.

"Cold Hands, Warm Heart" (52K, E) by chasingriver is an AU where Greg's a ski instructor and Mycroft is forced on a winter vacation. Very hot in all the snow.

I did a thing. I had the first of my Covid vaccinations yesterday and predictably I feel a bit rough (sore arm, headachy) so I figured if Greg had his, perhaps Mycroft needs to care for him a little. Release the caretaking FLUFF!

Seriously guys, get the jab if you are offered it. The aftereffects are far less than the risks of catching this damned disease. My husband has recently been disgnosed with some (thankfully not severe but debilitating) long covid symptoms and it could take years for them to go away, if they ever do. Help to keep everyone safe by accepting the vacine if you are old enough to be offered it. Thank you.

I just want Mycroft to walk into the Yard police station to discuss a case with Sherlock and John, and then for Lestrade to walk in like fifteen minutes later, and for Mycroft to see him and say, “Ah, Greg! A pleasure to see you.”

And then for Lestrade to smile back at Mycroft, beaming, and reply, “Nice to see you too Mycroft! Been back at the gym lately? You’re looking fit”

Day 1: Shopping

This is my November attempt at @atlinmerrick‘s 30-day September Sherlock writing challenge.

Greg Lestrade never knew how to shop for a man like Mycroft Holmes. With their anniversary just around the corner, he knew that the true test was fast approaching. As he stepped into Harrods, he was instantly aware of every tear in his coat and every scuff in his shoes. The place reeked of superiority with gorgeous displays of things he could never afford around every corner. Reminding himself of the task at hand, Greg swiftly made his way to the men’s jewelry counter to inspect their pocket watch selection. The assistant, a young man, smiled and asked if he would like to take a closer look. Lestrade explained his mission and described what he wanted, consulting his notebook to make sure he got it right. A week later, the look of delight on Mycroft’s face when he unwrapped the watch was priceless. On the back, in swirling script, was the engraving. Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are. 

(The quote is from Niccolo Machiavelli’s The Prince, and is my favorite Mystrade quote so far.)

Random Mystrade Headcanon: Sometimes, when Mycroft has a real bad day, Greg starts singing John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy” to him.
