Why do you like Shigaraki but dislike Sasuke? Shigaraki is literally a paler imitation of Sasuke.
Oh boy. I kind of knew this sort of ask was coming, but I’d say there is no ‘why’ here which will plenty satisfy you. But I can assure you, there are no characters that are ‘pale imitations’ of Sasuke, because a. that would be a hard feat to accomplish for a writer and b. because the liking you take to a character is entirely subjective and while might be influenced by other factors, it is mainly a result of what you are attuned to and see yourself in (a bias, that is).
I, personally, can’t relate to Sasuke and I think that what he lacks the most, and which Shigaraki doesn’t, is development; striving for a goal which is not as petty as revenge plays a part too, but I understood Sasuke’s character when he left Konoha and sought Orochimaru because while not rational, his behavior, as I said, comes from a place of bad emotional management and the accumulation of various disasters shaping Sasuke’s life; but then again - after what happens with Itachi, he should see that what has been perpetrated so far could change, because he is given the opportunity to do it time after time by Naruto first and foremost (who, on the contrary, had better reasons to go rogue and look for revenge - as Konoha treated Naruto with contempt, while Sasuke with admiration and pity) and by their friends, the love and care Itachi left to him and him only, who in their wake still wanted him to give a chance to understand that the way to achieve his goals did not have to be so cruel and yielding nothing but pain. On the contrary, Shigaraki is never given that opportunity, not until he is in his twenties and Izuku comes - and even then, we still haven’t seen a proper discourse between the two of them, not until he has been kidnapped (as in comparison to be the one to go to the ‘source of power’), mentally traumatised because he himself killed his own family, manipulated by his ‘saviour figure’ (in my opinion, Sasuke was greatly manipulated too, mind you), tortured and experimented on, continuously disfigured by violence (I remind you that Star threw a missile at him), and yet what he wants is a revenge that sounds more like a reformation of society - because Shigaraki knows too that what shaped his life and the way everyone turned their back on him (exactly like what happened to Naruto) is the hero society, and while Sasuke should know as well that what is mainly to blame is the wrong Shinobi world and the way power has been imbued into it, he fails to see this picture concentrating everytime on why he is a victim he should avenge. He is avenging this things because he feels wronged by them - but it’s never enough, because it’s never the right bond to severe (you can see it plenty after Itachi dies and Sasuke understand whey did they get to that point), it’s never the right villain to punish - and you know why that is that Sasuke does not stop his revenge and his behavior of someone stuck in past feelings of rage, hatred and sadness? Because the problem does not lie with the exterior, it lies within him - and he never becomes conscious about it, while Shigaraki clearly has (and even then, he had to be forcibly taken over by AfO) and has recognised that all the hatred he holds, is not the right way to actually fulfill his plans and to achieve what he truly wants.
But even if I told you that, you still would believe that Shigaraki is a bland copy of Sasuke, wouldn’t you?
