“Wed Me”

Leave a “Wed Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a drabble about our character under the subject of wedlock [be it my character proposing to yours, or marrying yours, feel free to specify.]

Orion took her to Apanaria: the Planet of Eternal Sunset. He held her hand as she watched the skies. It was the perfect place. The perfect moment. And he knew that he loved her. He knew she loved him. And when the time was right, he got down on one knee.

"Myst? I knew I loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you. You’re so beautiful. So brave. And so perfectly mine. And I want to promise my love to you forever. And so." He removed the ring from his pocket and held it out to her. "Will you marry me?"

"I had a nightmare." (mystsmuses)

"You’re always having nightmares." Charls complained. "Don’t think I haven’t heard you. I don’t sleep as often as humans, y’know. What was this one about? "

Myst sighed as she looked up at the asylum. She hadn't even finished her shift at work when she'd gotten the call. She shook her head and went inside. She was lead to where the visiting would take place. She looked up as her friend entered the room. "Right," she said. "What the heck did you do this time?"

Healer flicked her hair back, rolling her eyes. “They think Zareya doesn’t exist. That I’m schizophrenic and I made it up.” She sighed. “I sort of…attacked an officer.” She looked away, embarrassed, but too prideful to admit it or let it show. “Just, ah…don’t tell my dad, okay?” she requested.

Myst watched with as full of terror as she watched. She was used to being the one getting beaten, not watching others get beaten. She started thrashing against the person holding her down, trying to get away. "No!" she screamed. "Leave him alone! Just leave him alone! Do what you want to me! Just leave him alone!"

Orion had known of this day, of course. He knew about every day. But he had committed an oversight by not warning Myst about it. He should’ve. He really should’ve.

Always the technical one, these were the thoughts that went through his mind as the man struck him. Not ow this hurts. Not how do I get this guy back? But I should have prepared Myst.

He reach out a trembling hand to her, feeling his own blood trickle down the side of his face like sweat. “Myst…” he begged. “Run.” His eyes rolled back as a final breath passed from his lips.

Orion had thought that a nice night out by the fire, roasting marshmallows, would be a good idea. He’d always been a fan of s’mores, and he knew Myst wasn’t opposed to sweets, or surprises. What he didn’t know, however, that she was opposed to fire. So when he took his hands off her eyes and she had freaked out, he was really confused. 

She started hyperventilating and backing up really fast - she almost knocked him down. But Orion recognized a panic attack when he saw one, so he acted quickly. He took her by the shoulders and steered her back into the house. Then he turned her toward him and pulled her into a tight hug. “Myst. It’s alright, okay? The fire’s gone. I’m right here. I won’t let you get burned, alright? I’ve got you.” He held her until she stopped hyperventilating, and even then he didn’t let her go. He wanted her to know that it was okay. That he was with her. That he would protect her. He rubbed her back. “It’s okay. Alright? I got you.”
