I'm in a world mythology class rn and its 10/10 I love it so much!! so far we've covered middle eastern and Greek myths. next is African, East Asian, American, Northern European, Pacific Islands and British isles! I'm so excited dude mythology is so cool

what is your favourite mythology? i kinda care about ancient egypt mythology more than others, and greek is my least fav.

ancient egyptian mythology is totally sick, 10/10. one of my friends asked me this question the other day and it left me a little stumped, because i know so much about greek mythology, so it’s easier for me to refer back to it? but i also love mesopotamian mythology,  māori mythology and what i’ve read of mayan mythology.

ah, no, i might not have got to it. in all honesty, i don’t have a lot of good suggestions. most of my info from norse mythos came from one big general mythology encyclopedia i recommend often.

Do you know anywhere I can learn more about Japanese mythology??

i don’t particularly, but you could always google around? wikipedia can be decent if you know how to navigate it. most of the very limited knowledge i have of japanese mythology came from people completing the east asian mythology meme.

do you think achilles and patroclus were cousins, and what are your thoughts on using achillean for men loving men?

great question, i actually haven’t read the iliad or really delved that deep into the achilles/patroclus relationship but i’ve got an expert on the phone and @nefrertiti says: achilles and pat were distantly related, but it's really like, not important considering that pylades and electra/orestes were also related but distantly.  also, the achillean idea is super cute but doesn't really work b/c 

a. the relationship between achilles and patroclus already has a name, pederasty, and while it was fine in ancient greece, it probably isn't v cool now 

b. assuming this is using the same kind of reasoning as sapphic it doesn't really make a lot of sense considering sappho was an iconic "sapphic" woman whereas there are a lot of examples of m/m relationships in ancient greece 

c. it would have to be adopted by gay/bi men, it's not really something we can decide for them

Wait. What obsession did Apollo have with Artemis' virginity?????

in one version of the artemis and orion myth, apollo is either jealous of his sister’s infatuation, or wishes for her to keep her vows of chastity and sends a scorpion to kill orion. in another version, apollo is one again jealous of their relationship and challenges artemis to hit a black shape out at sea, which turns out to be orion, swimming.
