Hey there! I've taken Ancient Greek and Classical studies at university and homosexuality was a thing in Greek culture. The older men would engage in sexual relations with young boys. And before y'all flip your shit, it was alright with all members of that situation. The young dudes would learn about politics and what to do in life from the older dudes. This relationship could include a sexual aspect. My tutor said that they never engaged in penetrative sex. Just hand jobs and stuff.

my biggest problem with the disney hercules movie is that they show hera as a loving and supportive mother when in reality she tried to have hercules strangled by snakes, drown by violent storms when out to sea, and succeeded in making him strangle and kill his first wife and children through mind control greek voodoo like disney you literally could not have been further from the truth

song of achilles should be stocked in any local barnes and noble i literally just walked to the help desk and asked them for it; it's literally all about the iliad from patroclus' point of view and i really recommend it as it's a fact and pleasurable read
I have this problem where every time I try to read the Iliad I nearly always skip to Achilles and Patroclus partway through. I have always had this problem. Do you know how to cure it or if I should try
honestly a vast majority of the iliad is fairly dry and a lot of it is filler (ex: books five through eight which can basically be summarized by saying aphrodite comes down to the battlefield, does nothing and leaves, mortals get nothing accomplished, and paris could have ended the war if he wasn't so prideful and a weenie) but when i read it the first time - which was after i read madeline miller's the song of achilles, so i was kinda in that midset where i wanted to hear more about achilles' life - i made myself read at least a book a day, and rewarded myself with something after such like with a bowl or pretzels or a can of coke
if you set goals for yourself and think of the iliad as a performance happening in front of you it's a heck of a lot easier to get into
