I'm ashamed to say I've never actually watched any of Sausage's eps for empires, I'm pretty sure the only content of his I saw was Joey interacting with the Church of the Blood Sheep I think???? But bc of that, this design was so hard 😩 I went with his king skin tho cus I feel it's the most recognizable

I went almost entirely just European, specifically like the royal paintings where they have very wide shoulders. I wanted him to be very square and broad, that he looks strong and immovable.

But, when you look closer, you realize how impractical and bulky he actually is, which hints at how he's egotistical and too prideful for his own good. His only armor/weapons are iron, and everything else is gold, also leaning into that idea.

For the rest of everything, I just leaned into the lore of blood. Every animal except the Blood Sheep can 'give blood', either to the Sheep or to Sausage if he needs a regen. I fought with the idea of sausage not having blood of his own but idk, I kinda want him to just so he can offer to the Blood Sheep

BTW the Blood Sheep constantly pours blood from its soaked wool, it acts like water in the kingdom. And the dogs are a hive mind, connected by blood frfr (I think that's how all blood-related people would be in mythland? Tho maybe it'd also be smthn that requires the Blood Sheep idk)

BLOOD SHEEP LORE CLARIFICATION IN 2025

These are sheep! Is this — did Lizzie add blood sheep here? There’s absolutely no shot. Ain’t no way these are blood sheep. Dead blood sheep. If you guys don’t know, Empires SMP season one, the empire of Mythland had this uh… this… specific animal, the blood sheep. You do sacrifices to the blood sheep, and it appeased the gods. Uh, and sometimes, if you sacrificed without any purpose, uh, the lore said that they could, uh, take over the world and um, literally eat you. And you would be dead for all eternity, living in a pit of despair and doom. Uh, but you know what, if you did your best and you sacrificed them for the right purposes, they would grant you so many blessings — it’s intense, and it’s beautiful. Uh, but I [giggling] — but I didn’t know if this was act— blood sheep, man, this is awesome! Oh, the tomb of the emperors, how I love you so! See, and this is all purposeful sacrifices, it’s just for us to escape, ok? It’s just for us to escape, because technically there was a lot of danger out there in the, in the dungeon, so this is kinda easy, you know, in a way. But not that easy, blood sheep! We’re doing this for a right purpose, um, bless you. This is awesome. Let’s destroy the rest of these sheep.

This is sick as hell, look at that, I was mostly right!!! And the things I wasn't right about are all pretty close/things I'm pretty sure I don't mind shifting around!!!!!! In my worldbuilding, I had it so that the mythic people's relationship with the blood sheep is pretty transactional; the blood sheep eat souls, and because the mythic people don't believe in an afterlife, the pledge their souls to the sheep in exchange for the chance to use their magical power via sacrifice. It seems like Sausage has it so that blood sheep can only be sacrificed as long as it's for an approved purpose, which is another idea I had in my worldbuilding. And this clears up the questions I had about why the blood sheep overrun Mythland in the finale!!!! We are winning todayyyyyy

Here's my contribution to the Mythland section of the @empiropediazine! (click for quality)

I decided to go more in detail on the cauldron at the center of the summoning circle, coming up with the lore that all settlements in Mythland have one near their city center, and that it's decorated for every religious holiday!

(Also, the runes at bottom of the cauldrons are based on the ones used for enchanting tables, so feel free to try and decipher what word they're spelling out)
