Hunched over as he was, he’d likely feel it in his back later, and would have to deal with Vander and Felicia complaining about his posture to boot when they’d catch him rubbing at his back as if he counted more years than he actually did.
Yet he refused to let anyone see what he was scribbling down, despite most people leaving him alone to begin with.
Just when he reached for his cup without looking, a familiar motion which hadn’t caused a scathing hot spillage in years, did the rushed pattering of footsteps cause him to glance up from his journal at last, disrupting his motion and halting his fingertips inches away from the tin.
What he saw had him frown in confusion.
A boy was rushing down the path towards the mines, leaning heavily on a cane as one of his legs seemed to not be able to keep up with the pace the rest of his body wanted to move ― a precarious act to begin with, if it hadn’t been for the Enforcers following him on his heels.
Eyes narrowing at the sight, there was little second thought to be had as Silco moved. His hand grabbed the steaming tin cup firmly, while the other stashed his journal away with practised swiftness, before he rolled to his feet and started moving towards the boy.
If there was one rule every Zaunite knew to follow, it was that whenever there was someone in trouble with the Enforcers, they’d stand against them together.
“Over here,” he urged as he closed the remaining distance, gesturing toward the mine entrance he had been sitting in front of.
And without waiting for a response nor halting to see if his barked order was being followed, he pulled his arm back and aimed the cup right at the face of the first enforcer ― though masked, the hot liquid would still manage to scald at least some skin, even eyes if he got lucky.
