a starter for @myungbe ( too bad for us )
she really needs to stop picking up her mother's calls.
yuji always gets roped into something, unable to tell her mother no when she's on the other end of the line. she can't hang up or risk her ire, knowing if she does, her father will be the follow up call. yuji doesn't want to ruin her day with that, so she bites her tongue and let's her mother cajole her into doing something that surely will be bothersome.
she thought she was too old to be set up on blind dates. yuji figured her grandmother would have said something, so yuji doesn't have to be put into this position. part of her doesn't know whether to be grateful or defeated for it, but she figures just going out on the date shouldn't be bad. she can just lay her feelings out on the board later, afterwards.
she just...has to get there first.
yuji feels like she's done a pretty good job being polite. she knows how to be kind, to revert back to motions and conversation tactics taught to her as a child. she's made it this far-- but now that the silence has lulled into something awkward, because as kind as she can portray, yuji can't help but be disinterested. she can't feign interest when she knows there isn't any there-- not in the romantic sense, at least.
lifting her drink to her mouth and taking a thoughtful sip, yuji sets her glass down carefully after. "so..." she trails off, clearing her throat. "do you get set up on blind dates often?" her mouth twitches into a dry smile, brow raising.
double knot.

stevie has went so long without any accidents. he remembers when he moved to seoul, and he was in and out of the urgent care because he kept eating asphalt anytime he hopped on his board. hardwork and perserverence helped him then-- and now stevie is pretty good! he lands 80% of the tricks he attempts, and his injury records are on the steady decline. he hasn't had to restock his first aid supplies in his bag in what feels like months. it's true, honest to god progress for him!
and it was only a matter of time before it all came crashing down. the moment stevie started patting himself on the back for a job well done should have spelled out the end for him.
he hears the bike before he processes where it is, and stevie's brain is only seconds behind catching up on oh shit it's coming from around the corner? before it turns into oh fuck i can't stop on tim--
and they collide. whoever's on the bike goes crashing to the side once stevie's board collides with the wheel and his body collides with them. he lets out a loud oof! followed by a strangled yelp as they collapse onto the ground in a heap of limbs and metal.
stevie can hear his wheels spinning, the sound bringing him back to the moment as he shoves himself into a sitting up position. "oh shit man," the english slips out of him before he can help, wincing. "i didn't see you coming, damn. are you okay? you took the brunt of it."
