We got gifted another good vid today, so you know what that means. Another post!

We did get some new sprites for Pinhead (one where he’s yelling, him walking and his defeat sprite)

and some white room edits (either made by other ppl or from NAQtube) with blood and violence galore. The Thomas Synder image reminds me of all the cursed edits of David Baszuki all over twitter.

We do get to see Quasar’s death animation and Nebula’s death sprite.

We got some lore drops about Gigglantica and the appearance of Mayor Grimm. He has a daytime and his nighttime appearance.

Nighttime: shows his true form.

Daytime: a smaller, happier version of himself.

We also get another character named Nood, who happens to be a very smart yet neurotic scientist fellow possibly working for Mayor Grimm.

Many of these images do appear to be shots of cutscenes we haven’t seen yet. Also I am thinking that this weird being is most likely Zeno’s “true form” or it could possibly be someone else.

These three junkyard robots (I don’t really think they’re part of the boss but they could be a pre boss fight obstacle) jumping Quasar.

Now that Nebula & Quasar is getting the biggest drops in years I just wanna say that I hope the aliens turn out to be real. I hope we get some grainy footage of Xeno running through the streets. I hope some guys find our they're reincarnations of the titular characters and they have to deal with that. I hope someone has to fist fight Mayor Grimm in a Denny's parking lot.

Damn, they giving us good shit lately.

So we finally got more cutscenes AND a look of how the game looks (albeit briefly) on the PC port. NAQtube does have three save files filled, all of them dated 2003 and one that is completed 100%! cool. We have two modes you can choose between casual (shortened conversations with other characters in a sort of visual novel type) or the standard movie version with all the 3D animations.

Onto the opening cutscenes...

Starts off with Nebula and Quasar chasing a roadrunner-like criminal speeding on the road, with some shenanigans of course, like with Quasar being the dumbass as he is, using a contraband weapon to stop the criminal. Also these opening cutscenes do reveal that Nebula & Quasar are rookies.

The helmets are interesting as well, as the dots on their "antennae" function as two-way radios to communicate. All the news coverage in these cutscenes reminds me of "The Sun Vanished" ARG on twitter years ago. (maybe AK was inspired by it, with the riots and despair)

I am starting to see some bits of Thomas Snyder's... interesting sense of humor if you know what I mean.

God... I really love the sibling dynamic with Nebula and Quasar, they have such different personalities, but yet still work together perfectly. Nova with worried big sister vibes fits her well lol

I just CANNOT get over the fact that Starstraw is literally just a live action human in a cartoony world, so jarring yet so funny lmao

Magmanite makes a another appearance in these final cutscenes, so I guess they didn't scrap that plot point.

Another cutscene? Damn we’re getting spoiled.

So this cutscene is where we meet Celeste for the first time (in game). Lots of background characters (including the duck girl too). I again really love this sibling dynamic here, at least they aren’t fighting. Nebula definitely knows about the relationship her brother and Celeste and she seems to tease him for it, playfully (its kind of cute).

So it is confirmed that Celeste and Nebula are best friends, it does seem like there is some chemistry between Quasar and Celeste (or there was a romantic relationship in the past) seeing that Quasar seems saddened to hear that Celeste had gone on a date with another guy, even if she was just joking.

Damn, no refunds? Celeste you’re killing us here! I know that batteries are scarce are right now but come on, give us some leniency please.

Celeste’s lab is a lot bigger than I thought, even though the lights are off upstairs. I wonder why, was it due to the riots or the sun disappearing?

Finally another piece after a few weeks, mental health's been kind of shit lately.

It's another older piece I got the motivation to finish thanks to AK-Kaiju doing some lore drops on NAQ's sequel, Double Trouble. I had originally drew this due to "NAQ 1 Unused/Alternate takes (PC)" video where at the end it shows a possibly unused interaction with Quasar and his evil clone, name later revealed to be Nernex.

I get a lot of "Sonic Adventure" vibes here, especially the encounter with Sonic and Shadow.

It seems that Nebula & Quasar: Double Trouble does appear to be more Quasar focused, Ak-Kaiju had stated that Quasar's journey will be very "emotional" and have him face a lot of questions he would have to answer:

- How far would you go to save someone if you knew in the process you'd lose yourself?

- Would you choose to stay a hero if the world turned its back on you?

- Who would you have become if you woke up on the wrong side of bed?; would that be something you should be afraid of?

These questions sound very foreboding..

Sounds like Quasar's going on one hell of a journey. Maybe to save his sister?

In universe, Double Trouble didn't sell as well as Search to Save the Sun. Maybe it was probably considered "too dark" for the N&Q franchise, or was there other reasons?

Only time will tell... and I am hyped.
