When Pixelworks completes the acquisition of ViXS, it will also own the patent rights to the latter's 'CordCutter' technology which essentially is an OEM product. This will enable the company to reach out to OTA consumers and increase its revenue base.
ViXS Systems came into the crosshair as a potential acquisition target when it unveiled a new technology it calls CordCutter, at the NAB Show, 2016. Pixelworks took very little time to buy the technology, as well as the owner of the patent.
