Euphorbia ingens / Candelabra Tree San Diego Zoo Safari Park
Commonly called Candelabra tree or Naboom, Euphorbia ingens usually grows on rocky outcrops or in deep sand within bushveld vegetation. It is distributed throughout KwaZulu-Natal, Swaziland, Limpopo Province, Gauteng, North-West Province, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and further into tropical Africa.
The flowers are pollinated by butterflies, bees and other insects, while the seeds are a good source of food for many fruit and berry eating birds. Birds also like nesting in these trees including woodpeckers.
As with other Euphorbias, the milky latex sap of the Candelabra Tree can be irritating to quite harmful.
