ROSA - "Abuela, I cannot win with Rafe. No matter what I say or do, it just does not matter to him. When I talk to dad about it, he says...you two need to come to an agreement... I am tired of the constant arguing with him."

NACHA - "Rosa, you are much like me and my mother. We are strong willed independent women. Some men do not understand that. Rafe will come around. You be you. Never change who you are Rosa."

ROSA - "You are so right, Abuela. I need to stand my ground and stand up for myself. Thank you so much for understanding. I will keep being me, I promise."

NACHA - "I am proud of you, Rosalie."

I don't think Nacha sees the true issue here. But, we will see.

NACHA - "I know that we've met Jimena and she seems like a nice woman, Lucile' but are we going to be able to handle another mom here?"

LUCILE - "Imagine what the sons are thinking. Three mothers? What have we gotten ourselves into?"

NACHA - "Milo seems like a very well-behaved boy. I think he will be good for Rafe."

LUCILE - "Rosalie is an entirely different story!"

NACHA - "Well, it's the first morning, I'd say we need to get the day going."

ESTEBAN - "I can't believe it's here! We are living under the same roof!"

MARCO- "It's real, I already pinched myself, it's not a dream."

The first morning and Marco and Esteban are happier than anyone else in the house. However, they knew it was not going to be easy at first. Blending families will take some love and patience. Especially with the children. Not to mention their mothers.

But Marco knew their biggest hurdle would be the young girl sleeping upstairs.

ROSA - "I don't even want to open my eyes and deal with any of this!! I think I will just stay in bed."

Seeing how talking to her dad seemed to fall on deaf ears, Rosa decided to go to her biggest supporter, Grandma Nacha.

ROSA - "Gran, do you have a few minutes? I need to talk to you about something."

NACHA - "Sure, dear, I always have time for you. What is it? You seem upset?"

Rosa went right into her issue with Milo and Rafe...

ROSA - "Then he mocked me, called me Queen Rosa and really hurt my feelings. I think someone needs to talk to him before he gets worse! Then Rafe, my own brother, took his side!"

NACHA - "Rafe should have not gotten involved, but I am not the one that you need to discuss this with. You need to talk to Esteban. He should be the person disciplining him, if needed."

ROSA - "Could you talk to him, Gran? Please?"

NACHA - " It is getting late, and it is almost dinner time. Have you finished your homework? Best get started, but I will talk to him when I get the chance."

ROSA - (under breath) "Doesn't anyone seem to care about this???"

JIMENA - "Boys, it looks like this is goodbye to the old place."

ESTEBAN - "Milo, is everything out of your room?"

MILO - "Yessir!"

ESTEBAN - "Okay then this is the last load. A lot of memories are in this house. Your mother and I brought you from the hospital here, Milo."

MILO - "I do wish I would have known her."

JIMENA - "She was a good woman. Okay let's load up the truck and head out."

ESTEBAN - "You mean, Mio and I load the truck, right?"

MEANWHILE...

Nacha and Lucile' are discussing the new housemates that are heading their way.

NACHA - "I know that we've met Jimena and she seems like a nice woman, Lucile' but are we going to be able to handle another mom here?"

LUCILE - "Imagine what the sons are thinking. Three mothers? What have we gotten ourselves into?"

The next morning I was awoken by the smell of bacon frying in the kitchen. I made my way to where my mothers were making a morning feast. I sat down at the counter, watching them. I didn't think they had heard me come into the room.

NACHA- "Good Morning, Marco. You didn't come home last night. Everything okay?"

MARCO- "Yeah sorry about that. I should have called. I went to your restaurant last evening. You really need to look into making things move a little faster back in the kitchen. But, yes everything is really good. I went on a date last night."

NACHA - "Oh, okay. good."

LUCILE' - "Told you Nacha."

NACHA- "So do I know her?"

MARCO- "It's he actually. It was detective Guerra."

LUCILE' - "Told you, Nacha."

NACHA - "And how did it go?"

LUCILE' - "They were out all night and didn't come home until this morning, how do you think it went?"

MARCO - "Yes, it went well. Maybe not as well as you think momma Lucile', but we are going to see one another again."

NACHA - "Oh, Marco, I am so happy to see you smile again. This is a good thing. I am so happy for you."

Mother, and Momma Lucile' sat and had breakfast with me asking all about the date and Esteban. Mother was right. This was a good thing.

MARCO - "Mom, I just think that you and Lucile' are being too permissive with her. She is acting out, and we all know why, but we need to stop being so easy on her and giving into her tantrums."

NACHA - "So what are you getting at Marco? I was a single mom from the time you were born. Remember?? Are you saying I don't know anything about raising kids. I think I did pretty good if you ask me. You turned out okay and I was permissive with you, Lord knows."

Marco just sits there and looks at his mother, speechless.

NACHA - "Well, anything? Cat got your tongue?"

LUCILE' - "Nacha, what is wrong? You look aggravated. Everything Okay?"

NACHA - "It's Marco and this whole Rosa thing. He thinks we are being too soft on her and giving into her tantrums. My goodness the girl's mother was murdered. He forgets I raised him all alone and it wasn't easy at times. This is a rough time for both the kids. And for Marco too, I realize...."

She kisses her

LUCILE' - "I know babe. It is hard. Does that help?"

NACHA - "It does, knowing you understand. Thank you."

LUCILE' - "Nacha, we may just need to step back and let him do what he feels is right for Rosa. He may find out that he needs us more than he thinks. Honestly I think they may need therapy, including Marco."

NACHA - "He would never listen to me regarding that."

LUCILE' - "Maybe mention it to Lt. Guerra, he seems to listen to him."

Mother heard the commotion in the room, and she came in to try and calm Rosa down.

NACHA- “Rosa, dear, there are certain things that must be done in the courts to make it legal.

ROSA- “He helped take my mother away from us. What else needs to be done? “

NACHA- “Unfortunately dear it doesn’t work like that.”

Rosa started to say something else, and mother asked Rosa to go to her room. She would come up and talk to he in a bit. Rosa told her not to bother.

In my mind I knew it may be time to get some counseling for both the kids.
