Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that
Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do
Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control
Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child
Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.

SIMPLE GUIDE:
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.

Okay, I was going to just reblog, because this is important and I've wanted a post this clear and concise to a while. But I also have questions.
Body parasites occur in the real world. Some of them are visible beneath the skin, or protruding from the skin. So what's the consensus on tagging bugs crawling under skin, or chest-burster situations pre-bursting?
Also, at what point do scifi mutations shift from 'congenital difference' to 'body horror'? Conjoined twins aren't, of course, but mouths in the wrong places are. Extra limbs coming out of the "wrong" places do happen, so they aren't, right? Facial features being offset aren't, but what about if they're sideways? Upside-down? I've done SOME research into human variety, but I don't know where the lines are.
Is there anything that can happen to real people, that in fictional settings SHOULD be tagged body horror? Also, are there types of non-normative real bodies that SHOULDN'T be tagged as 'congenital differences' or 'facial differences'?

I think that the average person knows very little about the vast variety human bodies can display, so their "stuff real people experience" category can be very narrow.
And on the other hand, there is such variety that I'm not sure how useful the 'body horror' tag even is. So much of horror is derived from real experience!
Hello again philosopher of all things Anakin Skywalker. I once again ask for your guidance. The part in that clone wars episode with obi wan and satine aboard the yacht where tal merrick is all “who’s going to strike me down and brand themselves a cold blooded killer” only for Anakin to backstab him and they play the imperial march motif to show it as an “Anakin darkside” moment. But to me it never sat right as a “darkside” moment, it always felt like a “I don’t have time to think I need to act now” moment of anakins poor impulse control. Like he said “he was going to blow up the ship”. I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you and keep up the amazing work.
JSJSNsnsenrnx I don't think I'm a Anakin expert jddndndndn but oh well, like most of TCW, it's played for cheap laughs.
My thoughts? Well, it managed to do what it intended, it made me snort, and then roll my eyes. I don't really take it too seriously because it's TCW, I only accept it as canon on very, very wide strokes, and even then, and not all of it.
TCW feels like a dramatized version made in universe, tbh. I like that take that is actually a show within the universe, that would fit nicely with the narration at the beginning of every episode.
But if I had to take it seriously, well yes, the biggest problem with TCW! Anakin is that he's way too...Cheerful about murder. We all know Anakin is violent, but he doesn't enjoy it, in fact he constantly beats himself over and over the fact.
Murder doesn't really equal to dark side, either. Like, yeah is bad. But, dark side encompasses much more than that. And then again, dark side is ALSO different to sith. Which is a whole religion/philosophy on its own. Not everything bad equals to dark side and not everything dark side equals sith. Like yes, you could argue there were other ways of dealing with Tail but, that's beyond the point.
And let's be honest, Obi-Wan wouldn't care about that, he was indeed going to blow up the ship and dude almost killed his Situationship/Not-GF. Imagine if in Genesis Obi-Wan had stopped to be judgemental- Oh, wait. Okay, Obi-Wan being judgemental is accurate, but not because the TCW narrative of oooooo dark side oooooo he's Vader, guysssss.
Obi-Wan would be judgemental simply because he gets some thrill out of annoying Anakin. But Obi-Wan wouldn't care about some guy calling him a killer, is Obi-Wan, he doesn't care what the villain yaps about.
But I think you get an idea. When put in context, a lot of TCW stuff makes no sense, especially because again, is played for cheap laughs. Not to say the movies are serious btw, because SW is very campy and silly, but honestly a lot of the funny bits come from the misfortune of the characters. TCW's comedy relies a lot on random OOCness and little sarcastic quips "-rolling eyes-" "I told you so", "saying the obvious ", style.
Ah, sorry for rambling jsjskss, I don't have much to say besides yeah. This is one of the least problematic things Anakin does, maybe if Dave wasn't obsessed with playing the imperial march so much when Anakin does anything, it would be less eye rolling.

I hope you don't mind, I have fallen hard into the Killie tag, and read this, and a thought struck me... in HDM daemons settle around puberty, but what if it doesn't happen until later in this universe? Until late enough that it would post-date The Betrayal? You're each other's other halves and now you don't know the shape of his soul. Could you walk past them on the street and not know them? Surely you would know them, right? Right?
And I feel like Thunder didn't change shape much even before settling, while Thintrí did - Charlie and Thintrí telling themselves that of course Thunder's still that horse, he (she? does Killie, like Bill, have a same-gender daemon?) wouldn't change even for something that made more sense for jockeying, of course he wouldn't have changed just because they left, right? Right? (And does this add to Charlie's anger at the betrayal, being told to change by someone that unchanging?). And Killie and Thunder firmly telling themselves not to speculate, there's no point - but Pippa settles to her tit, and the thought pops in unbidden, Thintrí did often enjoy having wings; but Colm settles to his setter, and maybe the Charlie who left racing, left it all, has also settled to something that won't work for a jockey - but there's no bloody point to this speculating, is there now? (And maybe deep down they always picture Thintrí as the last form they saw her in when she and Charlie left - and maybe that's right?)

okay, like, listen. imagine if animals formed a support group for people who aren't human. and all the resources were like "for creatures with four legs" and the birds went "hey, we don't have four legs? can we be included please?" and the other animals went "oh my GOD stop making things about you. humans have two legs so you can't possibly be oppressed for having two legs." and also no one is even talking about insects or arachnids.

There are gonna be people who won't like hearing this but if you want to live in a world where mixed marriages, families, and adoptions (particularly POC adopting outside their "race") aren't maligned and discriminated against, then you have got to get more chill about seeing someone partaking in something cultural that you don't think fits the "race" you perceive them as.
It's a vague memory now, it was a vague memory even at the time I made this post, but I think what sparked this was remembering stupid comments I saw about a Chinese-American cookbook that were complaining about it being written by a white woman and then I looked the white woman up and the briefest research showed she was adopted as a child into a Chinese-American family and just....
