Okay but 148 just SCREAMS B-team
(dialogue prompts) 148: “Like I’d choose the laws of physics over you.”
dialogue prompts are closed.
Donnie knew it was impossible already.
At a glance, it was easy to calculate the distance between the top of the building and the surface of the street. Even cornered at the edge of the rooftop, staring down the barrel of Tigerclaw’s gun, with nowhere to run and no way to escape, the figures ran smoothly through his head.
His brothers weren’t close enough – still fighting Bebop and Rocksteady, white and bright-eyed with furious fear as they struggled to reach him – and mutagen-reinforced shell or not, there was no way to survive a drop from this height.
Donnie knew it was impossible. But when Mikey shouted, “Donnie, jump!” it only made sense to take that single step backwards that pitched him over the edge and fall. And if the last thing he ever saw was Tigerclaw’s stupefied expression, he figured he’d be okay with that.
But it wouldn’t be. He twisted in midair, and spread his arms and legs to create more of a drag, and made himself ready. And he didn’t watch the unforgiving asphalt as it sailed closer and closer – if he had, he would have missed the sight of his little brother, sprinting along the side of the building towards him. One hand wrapped in the end of the extended chain of his kusarigama, the other outstretched towards him, white eyes narrowed in absolute, incredible focus.
Somehow, the timing was perfect. Donnie only had to put out his hand, and Mikey’s grip was firm around his wrist in the next second. They turned the momentum of Donnie’s fall into a swing, and met the side of a fire escape with a bruising clang.
“Haha,” Mikey said breathlessly, “ow.”
Donnie clambered up and over the brittle, rusted railing first, and then hauled Mikey up after him. They disentangled his wrist from the biting chain together, and Donnie frowned deeply at the bruises already forming on Mikey’s arm. From the way he was holding it, it was probably a sprain.
“That was some jump,” Mikey added, watching him. “I was kind of worried you wouldn’t do it.”
They didn’t have much time to sit and talk. From the sound of things, Raph and Leo were still fighting. But Donnie pulled a length of elastic bandage out of a pouch on his belt, and wrapped Mikey’s wrist with a learned quick efficiency.
And that gave him a moment to spare his little brother a warm smile, and squeeze Mikey’s fingers with the hand that was holding his steady.
“Like I’d choose the laws of physics over you,” he replied, only partly teasing. “I trust you way more than I trust gravity.”
And really, if anything was impossible, it would be the swell of affection behind the armor of Donnie’s plastron as Mikey squeezed his hand back and beamed up at him.
“Me, too,” Mikey told him happily. But Donnie knew that already.
u dudes are so right
131 with Mikey for the prompt thing please and thank you
(dialogue prompts)131: “This is an apology pizza. Please take it, or I will start crying right here.” (i got this one + mikey like four times. you guys know what i’m about. takes place after/around idw #62)
“This is an apology pizza,” Mikey says in quick, measured tones. He’s looking everywhere but at Leo, practically vibrating with nervous energy, clutching the pizza box in front of him like a shield. When Leo only blinks dumbly, Mikey adds tightly, “Please take it, or I’ll start crying right here.”
He’s probably kidding, but there’s a sheen to his eyes that might actually spell tears. Leo shoves the door open wider, alarmed.
What did Raph say to him?
“Don’t do that. I mean.” He hesitates, then reaches out to accept the warm box, feeling childish. “I’ll take it. Thanks.”
That gets him a swift, darting glance, one that lingers just long enough for Mikey to hedge, “Really?”
He looks like he has no idea what to do with his hands now that he’s successfully handed off the peace offering – more than that, he looks like he has no idea where Leo draws the line at his welcome. Like he hopes Leo won’t slam the door in his face, but he’s still half-expecting him to.
Something like homesickness swells painfully in Leo’s chest. And because it’s Mikey, Leo can put aside expectations and responsibility and the crushing weight on his shoulders to say honestly, “I’ve really missed you.”
Rewarded, impossibly, when Mikey’s face softens and his guard falls. He’s Leo’s little brother again, surging a few steps forward to close the distance between them, wrapping octopus arms around Leo’s waist and carapace. The perfect height for Leo to hold, tucking Mikey’s head under his chin and moving the pizza box out of the way.
“I missed you, too,” he mumbles, sounding so miserable that Leo doesn’t doubt for a moment that it’s the truth. “I still don’t…know about all of this. I’m sorry,” he adds wretchedly. “I want to be as sure as you are, but I just –”
“I’m not sure, Mikey. I’m just trusting in father. We can talk about it some more, okay? Really talk, without yelling. And if you still don’t agree, I’m not going to run you out. I shouldn’t have yelled at you for having your own ideas.” Donnie’s ice-cold opprobrium from that night ringing in his ears, Leo continues ruefully, “And I shouldn’t have called you stupid. That was – really stupid.”
Mikey laughs a little, and Leo smiles at the sound of it. When Mikey draws away, Leo lifts the pizza box and says, “Woody made this, didn’t he?”
“Only the best for my bros,” Mikey confirms without missing a beat.
Unrivaled fondness folds familiar fingers around Leo’s heart and holds it tight. “I’ll have to thank him,” he says, mostly to himself, as Mikey lets himself be pulled inside.

I also love/hate the movie. But there's so much that's open for people to make that universe gr9. And the ANGST potential. And B Team sticking together. It's just all so beautiful. I think about that mess of a universe a lot
this is why you and i need to talk 900% more
