2018-04-08 No Stars and Stripes Curated by Florian Langhammer 5/4 – 29/4 2018 On June 14 in 1777, the Second Continental Congress of the Navy passed a Flag Resolution which stated “that the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field.”, the ensign of a fledgling new nation emerging from the American War for Independence. The early years featured many different versions of the flag, as the resolution had not specified a particular arrangement of its elements, the placement for the stars, or whether the flag had to have seven red stripes and six white ones or vice versa. Over time, the American flag was vested with high symbolic power to unite the maturing nation under a defined set of beliefs and values. Reportedly, White stood for purity and innocence, Red represented valor and hardiness, and Blue served as a synonym for vigilance, perseverance, justice. Under the Trump administration, many of these values are being hollowed, called into question and walked over, removing the flag from its original foundation. #stripes #stars #tshirt #nackaskoglund @collectors_agenda (på/i Statyn Av Nacka Skoglund)
