Nacula Hierarchy

Nacula is ruled by a Queen who has the absolute power in the country, currently Queen Rhee Ji-U, although the queens of Naculia answer to their people - if they aren't happy the Queen will be forced by law to step down and give her crown to an elf chosen by the people, but if the majority of the people are happy the Queen and her Line can rule in peace. The Queen has four advisors, usually Priestesses of Dreams, Nightmares, Knowledge, and Nature, who may give advice and question her openly.

Under the Queen comes her King-Consort, who has no actual ruling power. Under him comes the Crown Princess, and then her fellow sisters and brothers, all which are Princes and Princesses. Under them comes the nobility, followed by priests, priestesses, merchants, and military. Then comes artists and craftsmen, followed by the rest. Mastery comes before age, experienced goes before inexperienced. Gender-wise the women are generally valued above men unless the men has proven to be more skilled previously. The line of inheritance is generally going through the eldest daughter.

Plots and socializing are viewed as favorable, and motherhood as one of the greatest things that can happen, countries viewed as large families that should be managed as such, and violence is viewed as an unpleasant necessity they would do better without.

Women are valued if they have beauty, loyalty, intelligence, cleverness, and patience, expected to be skilled at being diplomatic and managing large groups of people. Men are valued if they are handsome, respectful, friendly, and great artists, expected to be able to impress and draw attention.

Nacula Language

All Naculian citizens speak at least the trade tongue and Naculian, but also often a third, fourth, and maybe even sixth language, highly encouraged by the education the nobles offer to all citizens for free.

Naculian is rather soft, melodic language with a lot of nuances, a close relative to most Atian languages but with softened and sweetened edges with a very flexible and descriptive vocabulary. It is easy to confuse one word for another due to its nuances, but it is never encouraged to be direct, instead the Naculian people favors flowery language and double-meanings.

Greetings are usually done by bowing, deeper the higher rank the person you greet are.

Compliments. Naculians tend to compliment things of beauty, cleverness, wit, powress, and devious minds in a very flowery manner, meaning compliments can be several sentences long.

Insults. Naculians tends to never insult someone directly, instead their insult is a vast variety of backhanded compliments, though flowery insults is easy to devise in Naculian.

General profanities in Nacula are "by the Goddesses", "by the Gods", "cracked jewel", meaning undesirably flawed, "crooked crown", meaning a cruel ruler, and "corruption".

Nacula Climate

The climate of Nacula is humid, subtropical with four distinct seasons. This climate is characterized by hot, humid summers and cool winters, much like it's neighboring country.

Nacula Fauna

Common pets varies with how rich the family is. Scorpioncats, mothcats, mothhounds, snakehounds, and snakecrows are the pets of the royal family, with snakecrows being messengers of theirs. Rich families often have house snakecats, scorpionhounds, butterflycats, butterflyhounds, and dovehounds used to carry messenges. Commonfolk generally have variations of spidercats, salamandercats, salamanderhounds, crocodilehounds, and hunting falconhounds.

Farm animals in Shaeq Chor consists of the normal cows, sheep, pigs, horses, and hens. Cows, sheep, pigs, and horses raised for food are often crossbred with elephants to make them bigger in size for more food. Hens are often crossbred with falcons for defense against wild animals. Other animals found in farms are snakehorses, scorpionhorses, and crowhorses, the riding animals prefered in Nacula.

The main wild animals around Nacula are foxdeer, ravenhare, buffalodeer, harewolves, tigerdeer, swallowfoxes, catcrows, tigerhare, tigerermine, foxcrane, jungle wolverinehare, raccoonhare, eagleotter, a variety of eelsharks and other eel-types. Other variety-heavy animals are bugs and snakes.

Magical animals in Nacula are bulgae (fire dogs, dog beasts from the kingdom of darkness that always chase the sun and moon, causing eclipses when they bite both the celestial bodies), haetae (unicorn goats that instinctively know the innocent from the guilty and will kill the guilty, also known as xiezhi), kumiho (foxes that live a thousand years, shapeshifters and multi-tailed, malignant figures who feasts on humanoid flesh) basan (fowl-like bird that resembles a large chicken and breathes ghost-fire from its mouth, the fire is a cold fire, a glow, and it does not burn. Lives in the bamboo groves), and shachihoko (an animal with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp, can cause the rain to fall).

Nacula Flora

Nacula has a wide variety of flora for it's small size, with fruits, berries, herbs, spices, flowers, rice fields…

Bamboo, coconut trees, cucumber, garlic, ginger, chili peppers of several types, black pepper, red pepper, cordifolia, mustard, chinensis, leeks, spring onions, lime, onions, radish, tomatoes, carrots, apples, lotus flowers, cabbage, potatoes, sweet potatoes, spinach, bean sprouts, scallions, zucchini, mushrooms, blackberry, strawberry, peach, raspberries, cranberry, candlenut, chestnuts, hazelnut, almonds, cashew nuts, gabon nuts, pistachio nuts, walnuts, pine nuts… Not even counting things like the trees from which they extract food oils, most herbs, and the flowers.

The main glut of flowers in Nacula are rose of sharon, abeliophyllum, dog's tooth lily, gentiana, lemon bells, lotus, camellia, lilies, jasmine, roses, black iris, hibiscus, magnolia, chamomile, and pink polyantha rose.

There exists fabric trees, strange trees that instead of leaves grow various fabrics - cotton, silk, hemp, etc -, a leftover from the Chaos Age. Another such things are singing flowers, large white-blue flowers similar to roses that sing akin to music boxes. There is also gold ball flowers, flowers of pure gold.

Nacula History

Nacula was a country that broke free from Xeprea shortly after Shaeq Chor, after which it hovered in uncertainty for a decade before finding unity under the Meadow Elf Rhee Sang, who came with suggesting to run the country like a family, where the ruler is a mother to the entire country who can be dethroned if she proves abusive. Finding an agreement in testing it to start with, it soon grew into something the people was content, even happy, under due to how different it was from the Xeprea government. The Rhee line kept the crown by keeping their promises of viewing the country like a family, and it soon fostered a culture that only enhanced the feeling of everyone being family.

It soon grew to that they needed to turn to bringing in people from other countries to learn of other countries, and fostering a culture of intrigue and tourism helped that, wearing masks on the outside so that people didn’t look below the surface. As the country grew in power and security in what it was, it’s elven rulers started to turn against the outside countries, plotting against them to secure brighter futures for their people.

Nacula Laws

Naculian laws begin with basic laws: It is illegal to steal, practice slavery, kill except in self-defence, torture, force yourself upon somebody, everyone has right to a home and food and water, family law (children mainly), you may not cheat on your wife or husband, and a lot else. There are strict labour laws, and a lot of laws to protect a person's property, nature, and the Naculian people. Naculian laws are also notable for only protecting Naculian citizens, and having no laws protecting tourists despite being a huge tourist country.

The Moon Guard enforces the laws, and while torture is legal to use on law-breaking tourists, it is illegal on citizens in which case a Knowledge Priestess is contacted. Criminals, upon being found guilty, is normally given a punishment varying between house arrest, imprisonment, public service, fines, or execution, though tourists are often punished with indefinite slave labor.
