Pirates were usually of little interest to Kaya. The majority of them were human, and as a rule, humans were the worst and deserved to die. Only a few of their number were non-human, at least that she was aware of, and she didn’t understand their desire to devote themself to a life of piracy in the slightest. But she had to play nice with them. “I gotta say,” she mused aloud to the woman standing near her who smelled of sea air and fruit, “I thought it was risky letting pirates in to an event like this. But now I’m glad they did. You’re a more attractive lot than your profession usually produces.”
