Silly little (AU?) scenario of (queerplatonic) karunagikae where the three like each other and lowkey pines for each other except they're varying levels of oblivious about their feelings due to various reasons. The class knows about the three but Korosensei doesn't catch onto it because he doesn't know that the concept of polyamorous relationships exists. Some students try to get the three to talk to each other and acknowledge their feelings but they don't get it/don't want to. It gets annoying.

Karma:

- His whole deal with Nagisa complicates his feelings about him. So he doesn't realize there's a little bit of a crush there. Actually, there was back when they hung out, but he refuses to believe that he'll like him that way ever again. He'd scoff if someone asks if he likes him.

- He thought Kayano was annoying as hell but the more he hung out with her through Nagisa, the more he got to know her. She's strongly passionate about her interests and is pretty fierce when she wants to be, so he respects that about her. Also, they enjoy sweets. One day she (accidentally) says that she enjoys movies and that piqued his interest, and he learns that Kayano knows a bit about movies (she can't lie too much about it...) They get along like a house on fire except they're both the fire burning down the house. The house is her secret and once that's exposed, we're having another "karma can't trust this dangerous person and now he's gonna have beef with them until they fight it out or something". I don't know if that analogy makes sense.

Kayano:

Her entire mission and the tentacles influencing her mind prevents her from opening up and making any deep and meaningful relationships. So while people can get a flustered reaction out of Kayano at the thought of being in a relationship, she'll deny that she likes anyone like that. Akari knows that this is all temporary and keeps everyone at a distance. Everyone is Kayano's friend but once this is all over, she'll be gone.

- She admires Nagisa a lot for who he is. The more she hangs out with him and gets to know him, the more she grows to care about and like him, though she doesn't realize this.

- She thought Karma was cool at first but then immediately clocks him as a nerd. A chuuni. A guy who acts tough and twisted and mischievous but has so much care for his class. He's like a rabid guard dog. It's almost cute. He's entertaining, at least.

Nagisa:

Low self-esteem + got other shit going on (+ aroace) = doesn't believe that a strong and long lasting relationship is possible. Plus he doesn't think he can keep any relationships as his own person since his mom got everything planned out for him. He can't see a future for himself. But he also yearns for more connections.

- He's confused about Karma's behavior towards him. Getting close to him again? Does he want to share the spotlight with him? But Karma keeps him at a distance despite hanging out with him again. What is he supposed to do about this? ...maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's to pass the time because he knows Nagisa the most. Perhaps they'll let this year go by and Karma will leave again after this is all over.

- At the very start of her arrival, Kayano has been super nice and supportive of him. She boosts his confidence and makes him feel a little more comfortable with his hair. She's hyper and loud and excited about a lot of things but he enjoys her company. Her excitement can get a little infectious sometimes. He'd like to keep being friends with her but who knows if that'll last? Once this is all over, they're all going to part ways.

Been thinking about this scenario constantly wondering how the story would be affected by this change of Kayano keeping her tentacles and how she and everyone else deal with it.

I like to interpret canon Kayano, despite being saved and getting closer to her class, still closes off part of herself, Akari, away. She's mostly toned down the Kayano persona but still keeps being Kayano. Because it's easier. Because she's been Kayano for so long already, used to hiding herself. To distract herself. Because she likes being Kayano and this fake has now become real. Because Akari still has too much baggage to deal with. Because she thinks that Akari isn't the person they befriended and suddenly acting as someone else might turn a few people away.

Even though she has the whole class as her family now, she still isn't completely healed from all the trauma she's been holding in for months. And because the class is divided and dealing with the end of their final year of middle school along with the assassination, she will keep her problems and worries away.

So, I think the reason why her tentacles still can't come off in this AU is because she still has so much grief and pain within her. And the tentacles are aware of it and latch onto her nerves to protect her. But they don't know how to solve grief nor are they aware that they're causing part of the pain and are killing her slowly. All the tentacles can offer is power and safety.

So the day the tentacles come off will either be when Kayano's friends help her heal enough to the point the tentacles' roots can be safely removed...or when the Shield of Earth or Spear of Heaven makes contact with her and erases her tentacles and ends her life.

But for now, winter break passes by in the blink of an eye and Korosensei tends to Akari to restore her back to...well, as healthy as she can be. During that time, they'd talk about him. They'd talk about her. They'd talk about Aguri...they'd grieve together.

Maintenance of Kayano's tentacles goes smoothly thanks to Ritsu snatching up Yanagiswa's plans and Itona helps by giving them whatever he can remember about Yanagiswa's methods.

Itona and Akari would talk. They'd get to know each other better. Talk about how much of an absolute shit Shiro is. Shitro. They'd talk about their experiences dealing with the tentacles and managing the pain. The differences in their mindset when under the influence of the tentacles. How their wishes affect the tentacles' behaviors. How Korosensei seems to have fused with his.

Wait they also have incompetent dads that abandoned them omg how did I not make that connection sooner?

Anyways, Kayano's friends visit her from time to time. They offer to help clean up Akari's home even though Korosensei already did nearly all the tidying up except...Aguri's room is left as it is, and Kayano refuses to let Korosensei tidy up Akari's awful room. So her friends would prepare snacks and fruits for her and try to talk to her.

Kayano's grateful but feels like she doesn't deserve this. Her mind is still muffled even when she and the tentacles are calm.

Instead of becoming a police officer, Kimura should become a security guard hired for a night shift to watch an old decrepit children's franchise mascot restaurant-- wait....

At the top of my head, there's ofc karunagikae, nagikae, karukae, kaemana, yukikae, maybe sugikae (that'd be more on the platonic side tho), kaezama...

Uhhh I don't know the ship names but maybe with meg, kurahashi, fuwa, ritsu...basically all the girls lol.

Wait you know what, discard the ships. I can do anything. I can draw her interacting with everyone. I can draw her crying over okuda and karma poisoning and ruining sweets. Playing co-op games with kanzaki and silently judging VA performances while they gun down zombies. Winning at among us. Getting throwing tips from sugino. Listening to fuwa yap. Princess carry from meg. Attacking and biting terasaka for teasing her. Having the brilliant idea of combining pudding with ramen and horrifying muramatsu as she forces him to help her make it tasty. Gymnastics training with okano and kimura and having a little match to get back at them for killing her during the game. Mimura shyly asking for an autograph and to talk to her about her acting. Chatting with nagisa about the most mundane things. Aguri making sweets with her, just like in the second live action movie...

A noncanon AU, where Yanagisawa and Aguri are almost about to go through with their marriage. But seeing as how loveless and cruel Yanagisawa is, Akari decides to hire an assassin to kill Yanagisawa so the marriage is canceled.

Who does she hire? The one and only Reaper.

But in this AU, Yanagisawa is fucking paranoid as hell because turns out, this isn't the first time Akari's hired an assassin to murder Yanagisawa. There were so many failed assassination attempts, it's convinced Yanagisawa to weaponize his research and use them as defensive guards...meaning he's casually using trained animals as antimatter test subjects. Meaning he has superpowered, controlled animals as his guards. Meaning that even the Reaper will need to spend days prepping before he can even have a chance to kill Yanagisawa.

Cue the Reaper posing as a new intern at Yanagisawa's lab. Plotting. Waiting. Observing. Falling in love with his target's fiance-- wait what.

Cue Akari reacting with absolute shock when Aguri starts to talk positively about the "new intern" and shows clear signs of being into him.

How do you think class E would have reacted if Kayano was accidentally revealed early

This would depend on how and when exactly she's revealed but no matter what, the class would take this badly at first. Here we have a sweet and kind girl who seems to care about everyone and is always a ray of sunshine despite the terrible situation they're in. Look at her! She's so harmless and silly and has an obsession with sugary things. Now, it turns out she's a two-faced liar who acted that way just to use everyone so she could kill Korosensei with a dangerous, self-destructive weapon. Why go through all of that trouble disguising herself and trying so hard to be someone else?

They didn't have time to get to know Kayano Kaede for that long. She'd appear so shallow now. Even Nagisa would be hesitant to trust her, and he'd probably be more confused on what he should be feeling about her. There's none of that steady resolve because he didn't get the time to see the little bits of her true self in Kayano. All he can do is speculate. Some would think she did this just to hog the reward for herself and it would be hard to trust her again, or even team up with her for assassinations. It doesn't help that she doesn't try to open up about herself, so it only further alienates her from the rest of the class.

That's not even mentioning the tentacles. Imagine if the early reveal happened right after the island arc. How could Kayano sit by and continue pretending when everyone was in danger? When she had the choice to do something about it? Yes, the tentacles are dangerous and damages her, and sure, it turned out okay in the end, but what if it didn't? She was willing to have some of her fellow classmates end up severely injured or even die just to continue her plan.

BUT the above would only apply if Kayano also revealed her tentacles. Even then, I'm not sure if it would end with Kayano keeping or removing the tentacles. I think the former would be likely. Kayano wouldn't allow Korosensei to remove the tentacles. He'd keep urging her to, but Kayano would always refuse. He'd try to give her advice and to urge her to patch things up with her classmates, but with the tentacles in the way, Kayano's mind is closed off.

As a last resort, he tells her his story. She doesn't believe him and only gets angrier. The reason why she hasn't lashed out now is because she needs more time to make a perfect plan now that her secret is out. Because Korosensei knows what to expect now.

Kayano would be alone for a while. Refuses to talk about her past and why she's doing this. Classes become awkward, but Korosensei tries to keep morale high. Assassinations and tests continue. At first, some classmates try to act like everything's normal, as if Yukimura was Kayano and that they didn't have the younger sister of their former teacher right here in their class. I think the fact that Kayano is a Yukimura doesn't make them outright hate her for her betrayal. They're all confused after the initial shock wears off, especially with how much of an opposite Akari is to Aguri. So, mostly everyone leaves Kayano alone; almost pretending that she isn't there and she wants to keep it that way. But I know some people wouldn't want to let that continue. So students like Okuda, Kanzaki, and Nagisa would try to talk to her. Reach out to her to get to know the real her, like she did to them, even if it was for an act.

The next part is something I'm not sure about. But I like to think everything goes a little smoothly from there. It'll still be rough but it'll work out with time and shared experiences. They all try to reconnect with Kayano. Going through multiple life threatening situations with the class probably helps lol. Maybe even when they face off against 2.0, she'll finally take those tentacles out and protect her classmates instead.

Deep down, Kayano also knows that Korosensei wasn't as murderous and evil as she thought he was and that's only reinforced the more she (reluctantly) spends time with him. And she can tell he wears his heart on his sleeve. So she listens once again, as Korosensei explains his story to everyone this time. Then she'll get the tentacles off...

That's all my thoughts on Class E's early reveal reactions. Canon Class E eventually forgave all the people who betray them because they believe in them and care about them so much. Pack bonded or something. Kayano's in the "I betrayed the class but they forgave me for some reason and they still consider me part of the class" box with Irina, Terasaka, and Takebayashi lol.

how do you think an au where kayano keeps her tentacles could work?? -haruna

I've been trying to think of ways that Kayano could keep her tentacles without dying or without any deteriorations. But that'd be impossible. :')

But let's say, for whatever reason, Korosensei could not pull the tentacles out of her neck even when she was unconscious. Maybe the roots permanently meld into her nervous system and tearing them out could harm her or even kill her.

After Nagisa calms Kayano down, Yanagisawa and 2.0 shows up. The scientist reveals himself and he says that Kayano would most likely die soon if she continues to have those tentacles. Probably in a day or two! They leave. When Kayano wakes up, not in Okuda's arms but in Korosensei's just in case she's still rampaging, I think she's able to be calm. I think she'd feel remorse for what she did, but the tentacles still being there makes her waver a lot. Korosensei would use this opportunity to explain to her and the class his story, and Aguri's.

It takes time for Kayano to process this information. Part of her thinks Korosensei's lying, but she knows that he speaks the truth. And she's glad to finally know what really happened. Still, it doesn't stop her pain and the grief is still there.

They can't go to a public hospital since Kayano still has the tentacles. Karasuma suggests that they take her, but Korosensei disagrees and says that he can take care of her instead. Revealing her to the government could mean they might take her away and into Yanagisawa's hands and he doesn't want that to happen. Then there's the problem with the whole "having tentacles without maintenance can kill you" thing. We don't know what the maintenance process is, but Ritsu would casually pipe in and say that she's downloaded all of Yanagisawa's data the moment Kayano couldn't be separated from the tentacles, and knows of a way to keep the tentacles stable. So Korosensei nurses Kayano back to health at her real home, and we can get an opportunity to see what her place looks like (it's bad. like really bad. Like, you live like this? bad).

In canon, it takes two weeks for her to fully recover, so I imagine with the strain of the tentacles, it would take much longer for her to recover from that rampage. But with Korosensei's skills and Karasuma reluctantly sending him hospital supplies, she'd gradually recover enough to walk. She'd still show up to class even when she's not fully healed, because she's stubborn like that. She wants to be with her class.

Kayano's shown to have a strong mental state and high pain tolerance, so managing the tentacles is still possible for her (though the reason she may have dealt with the tentacles might be because she's never had to use them until her assassination plan). So maybe as long as she doesn't take the tentacles out, she can continue living on. But of course, there's still some issues.

I just mentioned her having a strong mental state but right now??? Absolutely terrible. With Korosensei spilling his backstory, the truth, the grief, and the reality of the situation, it's taking a toll on her. What's worse, with her wish to be a killer, the tentacles would probably make her bloodthirsty nearly all the time. She needs to keep her emotions in check. She acts like a mix of both Kaede and Akari, but then again, she is Kaede-- Akari-- the tentacles are kinda part of her too, aren't they? They're connected. Actually, who the heck is she anymore???

She can act like she's fine like she usually does, but inside, there's a storm brewing, a bomb waiting to explode again. She'd probably have to kill something to make the tentacles shut up. Squashing small bugs barely help satiate the bloodlust and there's the fear of escalating into killing smaller animals and then to...actual people. Maybe she can make herself tired enough to muddle her mind and the tentacles and distract themselves from bloodlust. But painkillers and sleep aids don't really help her. The tentacles absorb a lot of what she consumes so she always has to eat more than someone of her size should, and Korosensei would panic and fret if she attempted to risk taking more painkillers than recommended.

To keep the bloodlust at bay, Kayano would focus on killing Korosensei, despite not wanting to kill him anymore. But never again with the tentacles. It's always tempting to use them. With her still having tentacles, some of her classmates are wary of her. They walk on eggshells around her, despite Kayano's attempt to act like she's fine. She does her best to be open though. No more acting...to an extent. Be herself, but don't let them know how much having her tentacles are still eating away at her brain despite the constant maintenance to keep her tentacles stable. It makes her feel a little miserable sometimes, and she can barely hide her bloodlust on some days. Still, there's some students who talk to her and try to get to know the real her.

Her friends in group 4 still like her a lot. Now that she's open to them as herself(?), I feel like they can get a lot closer. Except Karma. Knowing that Kayano is just like Nagisa, with more dangerous fangs, he's on high alert every time she's in the same room as him. He can't understand how on earth the others are able to tolerate and trust Kayano. Sugino admits it took him a bit to relax around her. Kanzaki seems to have talked with her and trusts her. Nagisa does too, and it helps that he can detect Kayano's bloodlust easily now that he knows. And Okuda? She says that Kayano and Karma are similar in a way. They're both dangerous yes, but to her, they're not scary at all. They're both good and protective friends.

Kayano's human abilities are still a bit hindered because of the tentacles. Her mind is clearer, but not fully. The maintenance done on the tentacles are imperfect and she's still facing the negative effects. Itona gives her more tips to manage the pain, so that helps a bit. But because of the tentacles hurting her, and the fact that she still has them in the first place, she's an easy target, and is one of the most dangerous enemies during the civil war arc. Knowing this though, I don't know if Karma would either go after her early on, send his teammates to go distract her, or wait till a little later to target her when there's fewer of the blue team left.

Aguri can't be left alive because she would singlehandedly solve all the problems in assclass. She'd give a lesson of kindness to gakuhou. She'd talk down karasuma from continuing with the assassination. She'd show Irina what normality and love is (and also consent. Especially consent). She'd convince the government to simply cease trying to kill korosensei. She'd change reaper 2.0 with the power of friendship. And also she'd adopt all the students obviously, that's the first thing she'd do. She'd help them all with their problems. And with korosensei? This is the kindest and most pathetic and sickly sweet loving couple anyone's ever seen. Their brightness will blind you. They will change the world. The only person with lingering problems is Akari because she's Korosensei's number 3 hater. #1 hater is Yanagisawa and #2 is 2.0 but it's okay. Akari is gonna kill Shiro with Itona. And Aguri is working on fixing 2.0 and Korosensei's relationship. Akari will be korosensei's #1 hater.
