I think that the reason why Naga Sadow and his hordes of massassi's spirits didnt jump the Rebels on Yavin 4 on some Marka Ragnos ghost laying the beats on Kyle Katarn shit, is bc Sidious wasnt a good Emperor.

The Sith loved their Empire. They loved all their flop ass Emperors and Empresses. Mfs had had this form of government for thousands of years, been through hell and back hundreds of times. But there wasn't any rebellions bc they liked how shit was. You don't gotta agree with the Sith Empire, but theyd get their shit rocked and remobilize. Bc mfs liked their Sith Empire. In the same way that mfs liked the Republic.

Also, Sidious was more of a dictator than any Sith Emperor ever was. Like mfs can drag the Sith for always fighting and killing each other, but no Sith Emperor had the level of unchecked and monopolized power that Sidious does.

Like if a Sith Emperor became unpopular enough for there to be civil unrest and rebellions everywhere, every member of the Dark Council is about to jump that mf for their spot. Sidious has nobody to check him, nobody to kill him bc they think shit sweet and he a flop emperor. Which is what Sith did. Low approval is weakness.

If the Empire starts to collapse in on itself, thats bad for everybody. So a more liked Sith Lord will kill a mf for his spot, and the Empire will be like "thank god that goofy outta here, maybe this ruler will be better".

In the actual Sith Empire, Sidious wouldnt have ruled for half as long as he did. For one, you old now grandpa let the young and powerful Sith Lords rule. Be ready to fight to the death for your spot eventually. Two, aint no way a mf whos so shit at his job that citizens are rebelling in mass will be seen as a powerful enough leader to be around longterm.

That's not even factoring in the real tea of the Sith Empire obviously viewing the Republic and Jedi as close rivals. Mfs coulda done the Bane method at any point, but they liked fighting the Jedi and Republic. It's why they never learn their lesson and back tf off so shit can simmer down. Shit boring as hell for them if theres no Jedi. They know that. I promise the Sith were having way more fun in the beef than the Jedi and Republic ever did.

Emperor Palpatine didnt have a successor to rule, his people hated him, and he certainly wasn't protecting mfs. Yeah, Sidious was bored as hell bc he didn't have a traditional style of Sith government. Bro had a Darth Bane fake ass Sith Order cult ass government and that's why Naga Sadow didnt jump Luke Skywalker when he was repping the oops in his massassi temple.

He wasn't a good emperor, and Big OG Sith Lord Sadow didnt fw him. That's why Luke didnt get spawnkilled by 500 Massassi ghosts

Naturally I ship these two in a frenemies kind of way, I really REALLY wanted to see them join forces instead of bicker constantly, especially after Marka Ragnos' post-death cameo forced them into their get-along shirt (however briefly). We could have had it allllLLL~

I finished my massive tales of the Jedi omnibus a while ago and I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and here’s my favorite thoughts.

Exar Kun is the gayest person I have ever seen. I’m gay and this guy blows my gayness out of the water. Unreal things happening in this guy’s life. He’s also an archeologist canonically I think which is pretty fucking funny.

Naga Sadow gets hyped a lot for being a bald weirdo with a square hat who gets sith racism thrown at him for not having an ugly ass chin. Still, I vibe with him. I too am a hater of my colleagues and think I would do a better job if I was in charge.

One of these two guys is a Jedi, one of them is a dark-side using warrior who’s been trained to fight to the death. If someone had told me which of them was the Jedi 3 months ago I would not fucking believe them. (No hate, love you Jedi journeyman Sek’nos Rath, but you are literally a Sith and you are literally using force lightning right now)

Going back to the older tales of the Jedi comics

Nomi Sunrider is awesome, I love her, but oh my god she has terrible taste in men. Her first husband is a Jedi who loses barfights and basically leaves her alone for months at a time with a baby. The next guy is this dipshit who abandons their burgeoning relationship to go play sith with some nerd with a ponytail.

Speaking of the dipshit, Ulic Qel-Droma is obviously a very tragic character and has an immensely interesting story, but Jesus Christ. A messier bitch there never was. Also, he and Exar Kun were in the weirdest gay situationship I have ever seen:

Imagine you’re minding your own business, making out with your hot sorceress girlfriend when this weirdo archeologist your brother met once shows up, introduces himself with this zinger of a line: “my enemies, I am Exar Kun” and then you fight, he zaps your girlfriend with magic which is rude, but whatever, then a fucking ghost shows up, basically magically handcuffs you and this guy together in the force, names him your sith master and now you’re forced to hang out. You are shirtless this whole time, the new dark lord of the Sith is visibly checking you out.

Anyway, if you read through all that congrats, needed to get that all out there into the world, that’s barely anything of what’s in the book, so I’ll probably say more at some point.

So I’ve been reading the old tales of the Jedi comic and just got to the golden age of the Sith arc, where we get a look at the Sith empire post tbe dark Jedi getting exiled, finding Korriban and mingling with the Sith etc but pre meeting the republic and Jedi again so they’ve just carved out and existing as the Sith and vibing

And a really interesting aspect that I hadn’t thought about that a Sith Lord refers to part of their powers as “…my Jedi blood!”

Just realized that the Sith of this era do still possess their identity as Jedi! And why not? As dark Jedi they viewed themselves as the “true” expression of the order before being exiled, and while they get on Korriban and fuse their culture and standings with the Sith to them the Sith are just a species and bloodline

So while not all Sith Lords think of themselves as Jedi, as some come entirely from the native Korriban population, it seems those who descended from the dark Jedi exiles proudly tout themselves as successors to the Jedi in addition to their status as lords of the Sith to heighten their status over their peers

This messy cultural stuff prob explains a bit of the internal divisions we hear about as the Sith empire has stagnated and turned to inward fighting, and kinda Keeps the Sith from getting darker it they’re still clinging to any Jedi teachings instead of filling fusing the Korriban Sith and Jedi cultures into the Sith order

And In fact it’s low key a part of the arc, not this aspect directly, but Naga Sadow is trying to creative a more cohesive and United Sith identity and culture and part of that is instigating a war against the republic and Jedi to give them an outside source of war instead of focusing on their internal divisions

This makes a lot of sense that the Sith don’t start really identifying as a seperate entity to the Jedi until their wars, and the Galaxy at large seeing them radically different than the Jedi but the Sith writing off the order and realizing more and more they think they’ve evolved above it

Just a very interesting Sith culture bit I hadn’t considered before ! Helps reshape the evolution of the Sith order, one I’ve already found really interesting to see it from original Sith on Korriban, meeting the dark Jedi, here onwards all the way to Bane and Grand Plan era
