I wonder how far Lin Ling can go as “Nice.” He thought he signed up to the dream superhero life, but what he got was actually the burden of an identity that had already crashed and burned under an oppressive system.

Nice was never a boyfriend to Xiao Yueqing; he was a curse.

Never the righteous hero defeating a nemesis; he is the best friend that Wreck now grieves for.

Never the perfect hero that his supporters believe in but rather a hero who was forcefully shaped into their ideal.

OG Nice was never the “Nice” that advertising intern Lin Ling learned for his job. Yet now he has to live as him.

But how can Lin Ling actually be him when he never even knew what the original Nice was like? And he never will know because the man is dead.

Lin Ling can only live on as the “Nice” of the promotional ads, but how far can that hold? How much power can be gained from such a shallow image of the self?

“Be the best version of yourself” were the words that empowered Lin Ling in episode 1. But can he, though? Can he be the best version of himself when the version he’s living as now is not himself and not even someone else but rather a fake image of someone else? He’s so far removed from his own identity, so how can he become its best version?

Lin Ling, I hope you wake up. You aren’t living the dream. You’re just continuing Nice’s nightmare.

tbhx pokemon au -> OG Nice!! part 6

Sporting an elegant and graceful battling style, Nice is seen by many as the perfect hero. Fans are clamoring to see him back after his sudden retreat from the public eye.

AHA I finally got around to drawing some more of this au!! I had Nice's team realized for a while.

Nice's partner pokémon is Swanna. I think swans in general suit Nice very well and I imagine it sees the most fan meets and marketing due to how elegant it is.

Zangoose doesn't fit with his aesthetic. It's rough around the edges and unfortunately has seen its share of dirty work from Shang De. It doesn't appear in public battles. Zangoose is also the only member of Nice's team to stay with Lin Ling after he becomes the Commoner.

Miss J worked long and hard to get Nice a shiny Mienfoo - the pokémon fits well with the carefully constructed image of Nice while being acceptable for battling. Nice never got especially close with it and Miss J eventually had him publicly gift it to Moon. With Moon, it quickly evolved into a Mienshao and became the backbone of her battling team.

I like the idea that Nice's team is actually quite balanced with image and power instead of soley for his image due to Shang De's intentions for him being completely different from Miss J's. I tried to represent that with Gallade, which I feel is very fitting aesthetically, a strong fighting-type, and evolves from Kirlia, which is a cute ballerina pokémon.

Silvally is his assigned legendary kind of that I gave him. Wreck traded it to him after it evolved and became all white and shiny and stuff. It's way more concerned with Wreck than it is with anyone else.

Nice treats his pokemon decently and they have a high quality of life in terms of upkeep and food quality, but he doesn't have a very deep connection with all of them. His closest two are probably Gallade and Swanna, although Silvally keeps a watchful eye on him for Wreck's sake.

Nice went off the roof without any mons on him.

When Lin Ling replaces Nice, all of his pokémon can tell that the Vibes Are Off pretty immediately and tolerate him to widely varying degrees.
