When you were a kid, your family always told you to make a wish at 11:11. You never knew why, but that habit stuck with you until now.
People always had different reasons for wishing at 11:11. For you, it became a green light to wish for everything you wanted. Not because you were greedy, but it served as your motivation to keep going, even through the toughest, most chaotic times in your life—treating it like a sixty second break to demand more for your future.
11:10PM, the screen read. You took a deep breath, putting your phone down and looking up at the ceiling. Your mind replaying the moment you found out, dropping to your knees and breaking down with your phone in hand.
“Jungwon couldn't take it anymore,” the voice on the other end choked out.
The words hit you like a truck the moment you heard them. The man who treated you like a piece of glass, terrified to break you, is no longer by your side. The one who swallowed his own exhaustion and pain just to provide a safe place for you is gone.
Yet, under the groundbreaking pressure he carried silently every day—he broke it first.
For the first time, this sixty second break didn't feel like a green light, it felt like a cruel joke. You closed your eyes, squeezing your hands into fists. For the first time, you didn't wish for your future—you wished to go back in time. You knew it was useless to ask for something as impossible as time control, but it was all you could do. Maybe the universe could give in just this once.
You wished for the warmth of his embrace again, even if it only lasted for a second, just to feel him one last time is enough for you. Maybe the universe could give in just this once.
You wished you told him everything your heart has been keeping before he let go. He probably needed to hear those words from you, but it was too late. Maybe the universe could give in just this once.
You opened your eyes, sighing as you wiped your tears away. You went to reach for your notebook, but your hands landed on something else. You turned your head to see a note. You sat up and slowly opened it.
“Hey my love, this is Won. I know this may sound corny, but this letter is for when you're feeling down and need something to take your mind off of. Take this as an attempt to cheer you up!
If you're reading this, I hope you know how strong of a person you are. I don't know how you do it, but it definitely leaves me inspired, haha! But jokes aside, I know everything may seem heavy and all too much at once, but you are so much stronger than you think. I know you can do it, you're you.
Take it one step at a time. Take a break if you need to, cry to me if you have to. But don't ever give up.
Live the life you always talked to me about, take me with your adventures, I'll always be with you. When everything feels too overwhelming, I'm here to listen, always, and I promise you everything is going to be okay.
You folded the note back up, holding it against your heart as your tears began to fall again.
